Megaman Legends Comic?

I'll apologize right off the bat in case this has already been mentioned, but I didn't see any threads about it.

So yesterday after returning, I was inspired to look for any recent Legends related news and I came upon this interview with some guys at Archie. Apparently they've been making Megaman classic comics, and are now delving into X. At one point, the interviewer asks if they would be interested in expanding into other Megaman series, and I'll just post that portion here since I think it's most relevant to us.

Q: If this ever gets made into a series, do you see yourself naturally progressing to Mega Man Zero and ZX to continue the storyline?



IF: My dream is to follow the entire timeline, straight through Legends -- maybe even get Volnutt off the moon. I’d love to tell the story of the Elf Wars, fully bridging MMX and MMZ. I could very happily write Mega Man books for the rest of my life.



PK: As long as we continue to receive such awesome love and support from the Mega Man fans, you will see as many Mega Man comics as we can possibly muster. We love working with Capcom, we love every iteration of the Mega Man mythos, and we want to see it all! Mega Man #37, the first part of "Dawn of X", hits this May -- get out there and help us make this happen!

Emphasis added by me. So what do you guys think? The interviewer wasn't asking about Legends - probably doesn't even know about it, but the creator specifically brings it up as something he would like to do. I don't know if it would be any good, but there appears to be genuine interest there. While I would definitely prefer a game, a comic might not be a bad way to get some closure. What do you guys think?

I'd be down for that! I keep telling the crew at 100k to run a campaign that involves sending a bunch of letters to Archie requesting a Legends adaptation, since it apparently worked for X, but it didn't seem to catch. Any way to get new people knowing about these games is fine by me.

Agreed. The lack of exposure for the Legends series in the west is really detrimental. It causes me great pain every time I see someone refer to a Servbot as a "lego man" when one pops up in a Capcom game. I see there was a thread below about getting the games on PSN. I think that would be a great way to give them some exposure as well.

That would be amazing, but considering Legends seems to be the last on the story line we'll have to wait a long time 'till the story reaches the halcyon days.

Yeah, Legends would be a long way off. I'll admit that my hopes aren't exactly high since it's a story that Capcom might not even let them tell and because anything long running tends to lose steam well before the end. But it's something to look forward to for the moment. It might even be our best hope at present until something else comes along.

I'd even be down for cheap MOTB-esque Bonne Family mini-adventures. I think that'd be more suited to the comic book format than the real sprawling story is, if they're so worried about risk-taking. If they sell anything, they ought to know I'm definitely going to buy like ten of them unless it's one of those lame nerd-hats that looks like there's another head on your head. I may be crazy about these games, but I do have standards.

Regarding the whole "Legends is the last in the timeline so it might be a while before the comic gets to it" thing: Let's keep in mind that the main comic hasn't even gotten to the events of MM3 yet, but Archie comics is still considering launching a MMX (side?)series right now. So if the X comics are released and really sell well then there's a chance Archie will look to the other side-series to fill that demand- and given what Mr. Flynn said above, it's likely that Legends would at least be a candidate for adaption.
