Have any of you given any serious thought to what Mega Man Trigger might have looked like before he was reset after the fight with Sera? I couldn't picture him without the blue armor and a matching helmet, but I'd imagine it would have some kind of Elysian flair to it. Something sleek yet imposing that makes use of their symbols. Maybe it'd be a logical evolution straight from the Mega Man ZX look to the kind of stuff we've seen from the Master System. I remember reading in A Different Place that Aarond had the original Trigger had darker skin, green hair, and red eyes like the Mother Units, which I'd considered plausible for a while, too. Not sure if Capcom'd have done that, but it's a neat idea.

Hmm. I'd picture him as an older gent, probably at least eighteen in terms of Carbon years. If we're to take the fact that Trigger was The Master's favourite into consideration, I'd picture him with his current skin tone, eye colour and hair. Sera was stuck in a long-term state of hibernation, but it didn't affect her 'genetic' traits. She still retrained her usual Mother System attire and looks. Another thing to consider, is the fact that Trigger is a Purifier Unit. Since most of the entire Mega Man series exists in a single timeline (crossovers obviously excluded), wouldn't it be plausible that Purifier Units are deliberately designed after the original Rockman and X. Those two existed as protectors of humanity, a similar directive which Trigger would share. Kinda like the "dress ten year old boys up in the Hero of Time's clothes" tradition that Outset Island had in Wind Waker.

I always imagined he was a bit older as well, but largely the same. Instead of his current armor though, he wore something similar, but with more of the 'reaverbot circuit-board' pattern on it.
I have a few conflicting theories about whether he classifies as an android or a biological being.(Since I classify Gatz, Geetz, Yuna, and Sera as being both at the same time, and to a lesser extent the entire Carbon race.)
Mostly it comes down to this: Everything on Terra, except possibly wildlife, is at least partially android. This is why Carbons upgrade and fix themselves so seemingly easily. This is similar to how the Humanoid race in ZX was...
This affects how I view past!Trigger. I always assumed that he was able to walk around looking like a person, and somehow don or transform into an armored state (similar or NOT to modern appearance / X) to do his job.
I do not believe he is / was entirely mechanical, as per units like Juno.
(I also have a theory that involves why he was the Master's favorite, which plays into determining his appearance)
Theory 1: Trigger is a system android like a Servitor or Mother. This means he could transform, commandeer machinery, etc. He had artificial organs and was biological, but not natural. He thus looked roughly as he does now, but more reaver-y in combat, and possibly having similar characteristics like an eye in his forehead or lines somewhere on him. When his "parameters were reset" he lost abilities he once had. We don't know for a fact that combat was part of his being from 'factory default' so even if he had weaponry that was part of him, he would likely have lost it, or forgotten how to use it.
Theory 2: He was a bioroid, just as in the previous, but his DNA was partly the Master's, essentially making him a son. He was still artificial, and thus was not counted as Human, and was considered a system unit just like Sera.(As for the object the Master gives him, it is never confirmed that it is the Master's genetic sample, in fact it could simply be a tracking jammer, hence the "As long as you have this, no one can harm you" comment, and also "We can recover the Master's genetic sample from Trigger's shell "[after we kill him, implied] comment from Sera) *ahem* anyway, this means he would look mostly like he does now, owing his slightly lighter skin and brown (instead of pastel) hair to his modified DNA.(While technically we don't know that all units follow the trends of Juno and Yuna et al, we do know that it would be a very Japanese thing to do, having that be the way it is. Seriously, look at any anime or game. People from the same family have the same hair color and such. People partly related often have some combination of two sets of features, or something random, like white hair. Its a thing) Being a bit more organic, he was reset, and became a child without defining features at all. (As a correlary, Sera probably wouldn't understand the human desire to pass on one's own progeny, and thus didn't understand why the Master's son was any different from herself, explaining the implied jealousy.)
Theory 3: Trigger looked completely different, and resetting his parameters, actually meant wiping his memory and transferring his remaining program to a completely different biological shell. In this event, I'd vote for the dark skin and green hair thing probably. Obviously this one would mean that he could have looked like anything. I doubt it though, since it is far more prevalent for Japanese works to have past lived look nearly identical to current ones. I mean, outside of the Anime traditions, Trigger could easily have been a woman, by this theory. (I don't think his gender is ever directly stated in those flashbacks)
...He could also have been Gutsman. The Master seemed to like a bit of chaos, so calling him "my little friend" wouldn't be hard to imagine as an ironic statement.
So those are my three main theories on how he would have looked and why (and the rambling explanations of how they fit into every other aspect of the plot, that were totally not asked for at all)

For the longest time, I always imagined him just a bit older and with his armor resembling Juno's. But now I think that instead of white it could be gray or silver.
Back then I thought that White and Black would represent whose authority the units would be under (Sera or Yuna respectively). Of course that I learnt that it does not work that way later on. But until then I thought that Trigger would have either black or white as a main armor color. Oh and then there was that time when Capcom revealed some System Unit designs on the Rockman Dash artbook. I guess we should that those in account even though we have no idea if any of those designs represent a Purifier Unit.
And kill me, I also believed that he would have Zero/Vent long hair in a ponytail.

And kill me, I also believed that he would have Zero/Vent long hair in a ponytail. 1. You're assuming that any of those designs would actually be valid. Its not a bad assumption, but considering how terribly different some of them are, it could be that they were scrapped not for time or budget reasons, but for the same reasons they scrapped all the original Bad Rockman, and Tron designs, and Barrell's assistant: They just weren't what they needed for the game. They didn't fit. 2. You're treading in Ricasso territory now. (Also I think you mean Aile. Aile was the one with a ponytail. Vent's hair was loose.) *Anyone interested in just what or who Ricasso is will have to display such.
