Check it out, guys. Now, if Inafune were to follow through and actually make a kickstarter for a spiritual successor to the Legends series, would you be interested in it? Would it be enough? Would it make anyone give up any hope of seeing the real Legends characters in action again, or would it convince you that there's a chance, if it does well, that Capcom might follow suit and readdress Legends again? Would you rather see a Captain Ersatz version with different characters by Inafune, or a canon sequel by either Capcom or an untested third party they've outsourced to? I'm not sure how I feel about my own answers those questions at this time, but I'd be interested to check such a hypothetical project out just to see where it might go. If given the option, I'd support it and follow the production, but it sure wouldn't replace Legends and I can't see myself getting into a spot where I'd be willing to jump through absurd hoops just to make it happen. I think I'm just sick of jumping through hoops to get what I want at this point. I mean, tangentially I guess investing in a spiritual successor to reignite interest in the genre might count as an absurd hoop to get to Legends 3 itself, so putting it into that perspective, then yeah, it'd make sense to support it. Plus, it'd be Inafune, so you'd know he'd put some serious effort into it. I'd definitely be more interested in something like this than Mighty No. 9, though. I never did like the other Mega Man games that much.

As an RPG faithful, from that classic era of the golden age of JRPGs, I think I'd like to see this. There's no way that this game could ever replace the heretofore MIA DASH3, but even though I cared more about the plot than the game itself, the game still held my interest on its own merit. What this means is, I would like to see more games like RMD even if I never got another in the series proper.
I without no hope of ever seeing RMD3, and I think those that expect one at any point in the future are chasing rainbows. However, a shooter RPG like RMD isn't a niche specific concept, in fact it's a wide open genre possibility that frankly no one has even tried to explore except the eponymous digger Rockman himself. While there have been other shooters with RPG elements, RMD/MML is really more of an RPG Platformer, with shooting elements gingerly placed on top, so as not to topple the foundation.
Or to put it another way, DASH is not actually a shooter. I say this because AIMING has no importance to the gameplay at all, but it does still factor. A good player can do precise things, while an average player that can't aim worth their weight in refried beans, can still play competently.
So would I be interested? Well, you're asking me if I'd like to rekindle my love of the games industry, from the smoldering crater of hatred I have for it now. That is a resounding yes.

I wouldn't mind for an original story that's Legends-inspired really. But I would really prefer if this happens, that the gameplay mechanics stay just like MML. I don't know why, but the 3D shooter action that I find in Legends... is something that I have never found in any other game. I am serious, there was something to the sleek yet tank-ish movement of Megaman's that got me. Especially the way the buster gun shoots and curves when you are moving, oh and the Lock-on. Can't forget that.
I don't know how many games have went by without a sequel in years, but I think Legends might be breaking some record, so maybe holding on to DASH3 is something that might not happen in the future, and as time goes by, that chance is getting lower.
So as long as it retains that large and tight battlefield on a gunner and runner gameplay with a story with mystery (not too much mystery like other games, otherwise it would get confusing) I wouldn't mind if Inafune-sensei picks up somethin among this lines.g

I feel as if this should be the nuclear option for Inafune and the MML fanbase. Granted, it could work positively towards the whole "Legends sells, Capcom" schtick, but it could easily act as the final nail in Legend's coffin. That being said... Should it actually come into existence, I'll inevitably support the project, since Comcept is actually a good video-game developer.
Whether or not a spiritual successor will be better or worse than Legends is unknown, however. Personally, I've got a feeling that the core mechanics will be improved upon, but the setting, casting and overall atmosphere will be lacking compared to the original. Maybe it's the nostalgia-goggles speaking, but that's just my two cents.

I guess we'd get more of an idea how close something like that would be to Legends once Mighty No. 9 actually comes out and we can see how close that one is to the original Mega Man series.
