... Those aren’t bad screenshots. Where were those taken?
On my computer. I went in and shot those myself - it's part of the reason it took me so long to come up with a reply.
Anyway, everything surrounding that legend of the two goddesses in the game does seem to support the idea of contrast, though it looks like more of a good/evil motif than anything, especially in those images. The whole thing with darkness being evil and light being good. Which would be interesting, since Yuna is supposedly the one representing night.
An empty idea, sure, but it came to mind when I looked at those.

Not at all, really. It's part of the irony, to be sure.
If there's any theme of good and evil in those screens, you have to consider that the person who would have painted those images knew no better. Legends 2 happens a good long time after the Master's death. One Goddess of Earth, One of the Sky - you have some carbon painting the two of them, he doesn't know what the System is, who Sera is, and what she would've done(in the same way that whoever painted Juno in that museum didn't know that, yes, He is male). It's all right there(referring back to the bit GustaffGlyde already posted):
Priestly fellow(after a small fee):
(About the two goddesses): There is an old legend which says the sky goddess
sleeps on Forbidden Island. The legends say that long ago, the world was
watched over by two goddesses. One guarded the Keys on the land, the other
protected the gates of the sky...One day, when the goddess of the sky came
to borrow the Keys from the goddess of the earth, they argued, and the sky
goddess was imprisoned by the earth goddess on Forbidden Island. So the
legends say. Bluecher believes the Keys of the legend have something to do
with the Mother Lode--that is why he went to Forbidden Island.

I can do a lot with that, but main point: Sera wanted to borrow the keys and Yuna imprisons her. Who's the bad one there? It makes Yuna sound like a greedy person on a powertrip. Point made?
I certainly hope that's sufficient for now. At this point my question's been answered - the rest of this is, for the most part completely off-topic. Seeing as I'm not looking to be banned(yet 8·P), perhaps these other ideas ought to take on Topics of their own? I only say it, because my question has been thoroughly answered(thank you, GustaffGlyde) and the chances of much more Watcher/Sleeper/Dreamer discussion going on is all but null.
