Here's the MMN post about it: :/
Everybody knew it was cancelled anyway but I thought it was significant enough to post about. It's really hard to believe that Capcom has really exciting things in store for us for the 25th that they can't tell us about. I realize that if Capcom doesn't make a new Megaman soon it will disappear into irrelevantcey. I asked a group of grade schoolers at my little cousin's video game party if they ever heard of Megaman and they said no. Children are our future and the MM's is looking dim. Each year they don't make a new Megaman game the whole franchise becomes more and more niche. I hope to god that they include Megaman in the next Smash Bros. game. How else is the fandom going to spread to a new generation? Capcom's really ruined the brand awareness.

I asked a group of grade schoolers at my little cousin's video game party if they ever heard of Megaman and they said no. This is perhaps the most depressing thing I've heard all week. But yeah...Megaman is slowly disintegrating. I definitely agree that having him in the next SSB would really help him out. There are quite a few games I love that I only know about because I saw the character in SSB. That would probably work the same way with Megaman. If kids these days don't know what a true hero looks like, then there's no point in anything anymore. Here's to hoping TLT takes off and becomes super popular and starts a new golden age of Megaman. That would be a thing that would be good, probably.

Mega Man? You mean that old 8-bit thing with the blue guy? I'm surprised they didn't announce this...a year ago. To put things bluntly, I've lost so much hope with the Mega Man brand in general that I'd actually be somewhat content if they made a new sidescrolling Classic game that looks and plays like something that was made this millennium. Being playable in fighters? Even if it's Smash Bros, that's small potatoes compared to actually having your own games. Then again, I don't like fighters at all, so yeah. There's that. It did work for Fire Emblem in the US. Didn't work too well for Earthbound, though.

It's a pity to hear that Rockman Online is officially cancelled. I kind-of hoped that there was a sliver of a chance that it would've been saved as it looked like it could have been something new and interesting to play.
