Honest opinion? I think they're neither. After all, they're merely machines with no semblance of morality or free-will. Nothing more than tools designed to keep the ruins safe from any foreign or hostile entities. i.e. Diggers I don't believe that "Reaverbot" is even their designated name. More than likely, it was a classification coined by the Diggers, as the word 'Reaver' would imply a hostile deposition (guarding the ruins and firing at Diggers), and 'Bot', well, obviously shows that they're robots.

I think so too. What do you think they are guarding in these ruins? What were the ruins used for in the first place? I find it strange they would booby trap their own building, perhaps who ever made the reavers (Master maybe) had a contemporary enemy?

I think so too. What do you think they are guarding in these ruins? What were the ruins used for in the first place? ...and why the heck are the ruins designed in such manner anyways? The weird layout of different rooms, different spawn points and other little details to limit them. Also, what are the reaverbot eyes used for? Aesthetics? The MML1 redesign I'm working in, will feature 3D ruin walls (not just flat tris with textures) and the reaverbot eyes will serve as the ruin's surveillance system which will be very creepy if you ask me Another thing: Only the Ocean Tower featured Reaverbeds (that's what I call 'em) These were a lovely idea, to be used for the reaverbots to recharge or hibernate or whatever, and were only present in the very 1st section of the Ocean Tower. It could be a reaverbot spawn point, or a reaverbot sleep point, but it was nowhere to be found afterwards.

I find it strange they would booby trap their own building, perhaps who ever made the reavers (Master maybe) had a contemporary enemy? I think the ruins could have been some type of Reaverbot warehouses, to be used if the Carbon Reinitialization Program was ever activated. It was the only method in which I think the killing of all the Carbons on Terra System could occur. That kind of depends on the creator of the reaverbots themselves(Products of the Master System or Elder System). The Master was probably the person who made the reaverbots that were in charge of defending Elysium, but if he did indeed aim to protect the Master system from a contemporary enemy, there is a possiblity that the reaverbots in Terra System were remnants of the Elder System. That ,of course, depends on the fact about whether the Elder System was the rival or was a past version of the Master System. The ending of ZX Advent points to the fact that there was a creator of another system, possibly the Elder System, so the rivalry might have existed. This is all I can think of right now. There are a lot of details that are missing in the game about the plot, so this subject can go in a lot of directions. ;D

Reaverbots are actually Mechaniloids that had evolved over the centuries and see the Ruins as their territories. They have the minds and personalities of wild animals, actually. Hmm, I wonder if the creatures of Terra are also highly advanced robots or the same animals from the past?
The Master actually didn't create the Reaverbots. Apparently, they are either from the Elder System or from an earlier time than that.

I got a question. Do Mega Man Juno and Sera count as Reaverbots? They have the Reaverbot Eye insignia on their lifebars.

Juno has been designated as a Bureaucratic Unit, while Sera a Mother Unit. On top of that, the technology and appearance between those two and the Reaverbots is totally different.

I don't think Prototype Anthrounits were ever revealed in the series. As far as Juno and Sera go, they definitely aren't to be considered reaverbots in any case. The reasoning behind the reaverbot eye mark being next to their health bar is because Capcom was too thick to make a System Symbol for them. So it was either the reaverbot symbol, or the Bonne symbol. Imagine battling Sera, Juno (or Geetz!) with a Bonne symbol next to their bar instead. That'd make things even more confusing, but in a silly way.

ah this is unrelated to the topic but if only you fought Bola and Klaymoore at the same time! Wait, what was next to their health bar?

I can't believe I never noticed that. I new Bonne and reaver bosses had different emblems but I never notice the System, Bola/Klaymoore, or Glyde ones.
