Hello again everyone I am fiddling around and planning on my video project a Walk through/ Lore dive for MMl1 for Youtube However recording issues...
I have the Original game for Ps1 [PAL] and I have a Dazzle Dvc 100 recording setup It looks like 1997...
best quality surely is Emulated, however I find its prone to errors and graphical losses at times, yet other graphical things looks truly HD. and there is lack of Controller and other things. I have Fraps for recording on Emulator.
and yet I know how much people love 720p on Youtube
What do you guys think? What would be most enjoyable? Would this truly be an issue? is nostalgic graphics good enough?
I would like to play and record the game on my dazzle, then have the cut scenes recorded on Emulator for 720p Quality. as my videos will be more Lore, review, literature oriented than a regular LP or Walk through. that is how i rationalize it.
Do you have experience with any of this, if you could Help me that would be great. or if you have personal opinions of taste, that could settle me down too that would be great.

Is playing the PC version (sharper output) and recording it using FRAPS an option for you?

if only I could a Ps1 controller to work on my PC too then The USB adapter for a Playstation controller is actually quite cheap. You'd probably have to look on Amazon or something for one of those now though; unless you happen to find a multi-controller adapter that supports PS1 controllers. I'm pretty sure I got mine for $10 new, in store. (≈4× what I paid for the game itself.) That was a long time ago, though. (It's so old, I think it came with an installation floppy disk!) MegaMan Legends 1 PC Version + PSX Controller via USB adapter is how I've been playing for years.

That's "SketchMan3". Capital S, capital M and the number 3. It's official (nicknames are ok, though)

Y know, if you can find an actual PC game controller, most of those are designed after the PS1 controller, believe it or not. I know they are a rare breed these days, and can be hard to find, but I recommend the Logitech Dual Action and the Gigaware controller for pc (what a name, lol). Both great controllers, with the Logitech having slightly easier-to-press buttons and a more accurate "PSX" shape to it. (but the Gigaware is very good, has pressure sensitive buttons, a better NES-inspired D-Pad rather than a D-Hat, and it's lighter and easier to find).
But, yeah, I mean, most all PC controllers are designed after the PS controller.

To expand of sketchman's idea, I had picked my PC controllers up from the clearance section at Target. Even my second more advanced one (had two joysticks mimicking a PS2/PS3 controller) went for about $25. As for finding a PC version of MML, Ebay roughly prices copies there for about $40 used.

I've never payed more than $20 for a controller at Wal-Mart or Radio Shack.

Emulate it. Mega Man Legends and Mega Man Legends 2 can be perfectly emulated with ePSXe. No graphical errors, no other stuff. It's actually better than the PC version, since there are no blurred textures and whatnot. Or for true 720p, you could emulate the N64 version. That one is harder to emulate perfectly, but you can force the aspect ratio to play it widescreen. Looks pretty good too. truner, could you please tell me what epsxe plugins you use, because at my end I get a HD adventure without Refractors and Explosions. and somehow Tron's face is upside down

Use the latest Pete's OGL2 ('Nice' preset), Eternal SPU 1.41 (stock), and peops's CDR (might need to tweak a bit) with ePSXe 1.6 or 1.7. Yields perfect, or almost perfect, MML1 and MML2, and really good MOTB.
That being said, while I appreciate what you're trying to do, recorded playthroughs and gameplay of MML1 and MML2 are a dime a dozen on Youtube. You're going to need to do something different if you want to have people's attention very long. A playthrough with a very glitchy emulator and upside-down faces would probably be more entertaining than a straight, serious one.

Just tried that setup, it looks good, while errors are the textures, and lines glitching through the sound seems to be having issues. and I have a ton of lag while I bring on Fraps in 720p and 480p. Ill be trying to tweak around, but I rather not bother with it. I have also tried to play it through my console again, ill upload a Quality test here: What do you think? Mind the processing tho, it does look pixilated, but its not terrible? Further about the Quality of my project, you are right, too many LPs and walkthroughs. Idd have to stand out, i understand this. But I rather not entertain by the Quality, by having things not working properly, keep in mind i dont aim for just walkthrough / playthough material, yet this is included. My aim of yet has no official name, but will include the load of information i can dig up and be like a analysis in many ways. But I could use a friend like you, one who would have a dagger ready to backstab me should I be ignorant and go down a stupid path.

That's actually pretty good quality, better than most of the MML walkthroughs. Just make sure you can hear the voices in the cutscenes!

The quality of that video is quite good, reaverbot4dinner. But, like Loken said, we need to be able to hear the voices during the cutscenes.
Looking forward to more of your project.

Actually, that video is pretty horrible, quality-wise. It's washed out and blurry. If you want to do something unique, try to force-emulate widescreen on either the PS1 or N64 version of the game and do something special. Like a no-upgrade playthrough. That, I would watch. Then you will be happy to know, my Quality has increases due to my knowledge of 2 things since last we spoke. However Emulator seems out of the Question for me, I have spend 2 nights trying to figure them out to produce the Quality I need. its about me being unable to accept missing objects and textures vs quality. and we are speaking about almost 20 year old tech.
