My channel was just switched, so that's why I'm bringing this up. I can't say I'm overly thrilled with the new changes they're forcing on users for the most part, but I would if they'd have put a little more thought into it.
The channels are easier to read now, but I think they've lost quite a bit of personality. I also don't see an option to make a Top 12 videos dealio like the older version had, and that's a bit of a bummer since I like keeping certain videos at the top of my channel for everyone to see.
But the thing I can't agree with at all is making it harder to get to read channel comments. I don't get them often as it is, but when I do, it was at least right there on the front page. That's a format that needs to be added instead of being hidden behind a couple of clicks as it is now.
Honestly, it's so close to what I want, but it's also not quite there. Do you all know what I'm talking about here? If so, what do you like and dislike about this whole layout change thing?

I still have a bit of an attachment to the old old channel style that used to exist. I thought the transition from old old into the (now) old style was a bit silly at first, but I eventually appreciated the fact that the video loader could go straight from one video to another without having to leave the page; as opposed to only being able to view the featured video in the channel.
But this? This latest transition is a bit of a frowny face. This time, they removed the video player completely, and made the backgrounds even harder to see than it was previously. I can understand upgrades, but I don't understand why they have to keep fixing what isn't broken. I'm gonna miss that video player...
But yeah. As long as they don't mess up the video pages themselves, then I guess it's not really that big of a deal.

I don't like it either, and I'm not just saying that because I'm stubborn. The new layout's hard to navigate and really impersonal. And yeah, the video player was nice. Can you still separate your videos into different categories?

If you mean by Playlists, then yes. If you mean by what type of video it is when you upload it, then that's also a yes. I don't know how other features work like Favorites since I never used it. Go figure.
Edit: Oh, I remember now what's the worst part of it. It's when you know you have comments on videos but not private messages on the front page. That's kind of silly. Actually forgot about that since it came with the new homepage update awhile back.

...The short answer is no. This update was coming for a while. I'm pretty sure the new channels started popping up sometime in January with the ability to switch back, and if you ever logged into Youtube, you would've seen the message above your channel saying that all channels would be upgraded to the new style precisely on March the 7th. So no.

Well, you're not the only one. There's a plethora of topics in the harder to access forums that are against the new changes. I'd say that roughly 99% of the people are negative to it as a whole. I'm one of the ones trying to offer constructive criticism, but I doubt Google even cares at this point.

I not only hate this new design, I also hate the new subscription/home page they implemented a while back. I really don't know why they insist on forcing these new themes down our throats, especially when no one likes them.

I am also one of those that dislike the new design.
Plus, why doesn't it have the "See all comments" feature like before?

I was playing around with the settings earlier, and I discovered that they seemingly hid the featured player on purpose. As it turns out, you have to go to "edit channel" on the upper right, then go to "featured tab" and check the box to enable it. Once that's done, you can go back to your channel and add in a featured video, and it'll appear and play just that video; kinda like what the old old channels used to do; just in case anybody else hasn't discovered that yet. I still miss the player that played any of your favorites / videos in your own channel though.

True enough. I accidentally wound up posting something to my feed instead of my comments box yesterday, too. First time that slip up happened and hopefully the last since it was a critique on a video. Oops.

I don't really get why they added the Feed section to begin with. I mean, it's Youtube not Twitter!
I think Youtube should hold polls so that the community can decide with them weather or not certain features change or get added. I want my Youtube to just be Youtube. Not Youtube with a little pinch of Twitter and Foursquare like capabilities. Why in blazes would I use that? It's not supposed to be a random post and flame-war hub, it's supposed to be a viral video network.
And for the love of god they need better mods. anybody from 4Chan could join Youtube posing as someone they don't like, just to leave harassing and racist comments on every Vocaloid, wrestling or My Little Pony channel they find at sheer random. I believe that they should find a way to IP ban those trolls, and bring back the flag button for channels. A more positive community with better moderation, can make more people spend more time on your service.

I actually relatively like the new design. At least much more than the one before this one.

I think it's about time to bring this one back up since there's been yet another layout change. This current one has some major flaws that are driving me up a wall. Those include:
-Uploader being broken for some users (myself included in Firefox, works fine in IE)
-New comments/messages not displayed on homepage
-Homepage linking to bits and pieces of subscribers instead of all activity by default
-Can't access the four pages of videos for a user that used to be next to the subscribe button. This means you have to go to the user's page to find a video but you can't watch it on his/her channel page because they took that feature out previously.
Yeah, this one might be the worst update they've done to the site yet, although I do like the new playlists feature. That one is one they got right. Other than that, it's a total trainwreck. The comments are almost all negative on the Google Product Forums right now.
