Right now there are some topics with new posts. However, even after seeing the posts, topics still states that is has new, unread posts.
Also, every board category has the spinning refractor that indicates that it has a new, unread post/topic. Even after entering the boards, the refractors won't go away as the topics continue to state that they include unread posts.
EDIT: I noticed that a few of those "NEW" unread posts are actually posts I read long ago...

I've got it too. It probably has something to do with when the boards went down this afternoon around 1:30 Eastern. The "mark as read" button doesn't work for me either, but I can't recall whether standard members have that function or not.

same problem here, and it's very annoying in my opinion.
Interesting, this thread actually it's the only without the icon for me, maybe it just mark as read a topic when you posted on it.

Do you think Proboards is trying to tell us to talk more?

This is a glitch, not a petition from Proboards. If it was a petition, then why would it require interpretation? Also, an act like this for the purpose of making us post more would go against the Terms of Agreement that was accepted when making this forums.
Besides, they'd rather have us click on more ads than post more. They give us a free forum, a free domain for it and free access to servers to host it in exchange for then the profit they make by putting ads on the forums. You could say that more activity can be interpreted with more ads, but the amount of guests that roam this forum is already too big and they can see and click on the ads too. Guest data is also recorded.
@rockman Striker - We actually don't post "A LOT". There's barely some new posts around every 15 minutes. On the BAS Forums (Powered by Proboards) we used to have a new post every 1 to 5 seconds. Not only that, but we had far less members than in Legends Station. (However, we had more freedom than we have in here.)

That petition thing was a joke. :17:

Of course it was a joke, take it easy Adrian. So the "new" icon really disappears when the person post a reply in that thread, fascinating...

That petition thing was a joke. :17: And I countered your joke with my own joke of taking it excessively seriously and over-analyzing it! EDIT: Replying to a topic does seem to allow us to get rid of the stuck "NEW unread post" sign on the problematic topics. I did this on the topics of one of the boards and now there are no new unread topics. However, the refractor of the board keeps spinning as if there were still unread posts left to read. (Also, I checked every topic on the board just in case there was another topic with the sign. There wasn't any.) Maybe making a topic could fix this, but maybe it won't. Still, we should just try to find an overall fix first. I'll search on the Proboards Help forums, the Proboards customizing forums and on Google just in case someone have had this problem before and found a solution he shared the solution to the public.

I was experiencing this on another non-Proboards forum as well, so I first assumed the problem was on my side.
However, now that I see that other people have the problem, I can make the claim that the "NEW" bug is server-side.

According to Proboards, they're aware of the glitch and working on it.

So they have this bug in another forums as well? wow, hope it's not some kind of hack or virus. It doesn't hurt anyone, but it's annoying...

Looks like Proboards has fixed the error, as they said they would "in the next 24 hours" on their support board. As such, the thread's now closed.
I recommend everyone hitting 'Mark As Read' once for a fresh slate on the unread stuff.
