Well the boycott attitude may still have an effect ( though it's doubtful), but even so there's no way we could tell for at least another three months. I'm actually with you on not wanting to buy anything from Capcom for the indefinite future. The only thing I would have been interested coming up is UMvC3 and even that left me more annoyed than hyped given the situation. I'm also a Megaman fan above anything else gaming-wise, so I'd love for their currect anti-MM pattern to result in some corrective profit loss. But with so many other gamers gobbling up RE and SF like rabid dogs, I think they're safe to keep ignoring us if they want to.

While there's a possibility that it's due to people boycotting them, I do believe that it's also due to the fact that they hadn't released many video games during that period.

@steffie These numbers are from April through June, before the cancellation. Unless the boycotting started while MegaMan Legends 3 was still in production, there's literally no possibility it had any impact. If you want to see if sales drop in correlation with the fanrage boycotts, stay tuned for next quarter's figures, which we should be hearing about in October if anything. Although, truthfully it would probably be more accurate to examine them at a much later date, though, to see if there's any real pattern of decline, etc..

@pitch: I am indeed interest about how much their sales would drop by that time. I would also like to see their reaction as well.

Well this is what happens when you let business people run things for to long. They begin to run the company into the ground and everyone suffers. I won't be surprised if we see more drops like this in the future.
Maybe one day the right people who really care about the games being made will take charge. Can't make a game with love when your superiors are to blinded by their greed and indecisiveness to let new ground be broken.

Oh? And exactly what makes you so certain that it is these factors causing it? I'm not, but its the truth, yes you gotta keep the business going and bring in more customers. But, sometimes you just have to take the plunge and see what happens. As for the cancellation of MML3 its either some trivial factors that got it canned or something else. I'm guessing infighting between the executives got our game canned. They just got some new guys appointed this year. But that's just my theory. Maybe they will tell us why they canned it one of these days.

I cannot see how your reply is relevant to my question. I am asking what makes you so certain that it is "greed and indecisiveness" that is causing the shit to hit the fan.

I cannot see how your reply is relevant to my question. I am asking what makes you so certain that it is "greed and indecisiveness" that is causing the shit to hit the fan. I already answered your question with the first two words, 'I'm not'. That response is for the game industry in general at times. The last two parts of my response are the relevant parts.

Alright, but you mentioned "the truth", which gave me mixed messages of your response. So is that part moot, or a contradiction (intentional or otherwise)? Not that it matters, at least now I know what you're getting at.

I think that the indecisiveness argument is a moot point. When presented with the option of cutting one game or another, Capcom executives cut the funding for legends 3. They likely had to pick where to cut some losses, what with so many games in development. Given the profit they've made in the previous quarter by releasing cheaper to produce ports / remakes, they likely decided that Legends 3 (being a bit of a wildcard) didn't meet their desired margins. :25: On the topic of Greed, it always plays a role in business. I can't say I like that fact, but I work for 2 multinationals, and they're only as big as they are because somebody somewhere wanted more. I just wish that there were more individuals that reach the upper echelons with more creative inclination, but alas, people like to associate with those who think similar to themselves, and management controls who's in management! (An old boys club, hoo-rah :15: ) I think that's Enough of my rambling for now... I've forgotten why I started this post.
