Eh, I'm not too keen on that one...there are a bunch of characters with Mettaur helmets up on CU already, and it'd be a huge reference to the Classic series, which is the oldest of the bunch. If there weren't any actual Mettaurs in X, Zero, or ZX, then putting one in Legends doesn't seem very logical. On top of that, taking another Capcom design and slapping it into the game isn't as original as coming up with a solid character design on our own.

there weren't any actual Mettaurs in X, Zero, or ZX I'm pretty sure Mettools (As far as I know, the term “Mettaur” originally came from Battle Network, years later) were in all of those series at some point or another. I definitely remember seeing them in Zero and ZX. And they have sprites in each series. 1 2 3 Just sayin’. MegaMan Knowledge Base actually has a nice page on all the appearances of Mettools throughout the MegaMan universe(s).

Don't anyone forget that Legends already has a Met expy in it...a pretty big one.

Yeah the Metools remained mostly unchanged throughout the entire timeline. So a mechanical animal or something else robotic with goggles?

Raijin, what Met-expy are you talking about, anyway? *Is as dumb as a rock with this sort of thing. Wonders again why she is the admin.*

Sad Pinky says ok... (sorry I didn't put the goggles on him, since this was just for a laugh, I didn't feel like modeling a piece of equipment that was more complex than the rest of the character lol). Uploaded with ImageShack.usHaha yes actually I think we really should avoid that. Unless it has only an homage to it such as the had (which, by the way, the construction workers wear in MML1 if I'm remembering right).

That hat isn't just on the construction workers--it's on about seven contest entries from other people already, too, including a really popular cat design.

Bon? Well I wouldn't have made a connection like that. Color scheme, the 'helmet' and indestructible head, eh I can see it.
I thought you we're talking about the Shekuten. Though I don't think any Mets explode, so Bon is more Met than a Skekuten.
So what direction are we heading with this?
Animal or not?

It's doesn't leap out at you right away, but it's a "can't unsee" resemblance once it's pointed out. I didn't figure it out all on my own either. I think it was Bon's profile description on DASH! (the old fansite) that described him as "the Bonnes' baby brother, stuck inside a giant Metool" or something to that effect, and that forced me to do a double-take.
I realize the horns and limbs make it a tad ambiguous, but there's no doubt in my mind the character designers were making a Metool reference with Bon.

Bon, huh? I thought you meant the Blitzkrieg. You know, because it takes shots at you while ducking under the statue in between. Kind of Met-like. Sure, you get to destroy the statue and then it's a whole other story, but... yeah. I would've also understood if you meant the Shekuten, like Avegodro said. I'm just not really buying Bon as a Met-expy, though. o.o
I don't think we've ever really had anything quite like a Met in Legends. I've gotta say, it's got all the qualities of a mascot you might want. It's definitely marketable. It's classic. It's cute. I'd kind of think it were best left to Capcom to incorporate a Met, though. So yeah.

Hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of messing around with one of your images. It was kinda fun. There's lots of things I think I would do differently if I were really spending much time on it (such as a true subsurface scatter for the slime, and real textures instead of flat shaders, but you get the picture) Uploaded with ImageShack.usAlso that pig looks eerily similar to the one from MoTB, and while I like the idea, I don't think it would be picked precisely for that reason.

Are you talking about the pigs in the Sart Farm, or the Finkel?

Finkel. Just the fact that it's a pig on a helicopter thing (same reason no mettaur, etc).
It just makes me think that people would see it as a Bonne machine.
Out of the sketches that Arne did, I actually like the Dark Wanderer the best. Although he's kinda mischievous looking and I had a cutesty and shy little guy in mind. And clumsy as well. Eguchi wants it to be interesting and funny.
Goggles should definitely be in the final design, since it seems everyone but Max wears them.
