The heat's been knocking me down alot lately amongst other things...so I've been listening to this interesting tune. Doesn't fail to brighten my day a bit.

Listening to Linkin Park's latest album: The Hunting Party. Over and over again. So good.
The first song. Visceral opening. Gives me chills.

Put on your gakuran and get pumped! Kishidan - One Night CarnivalKishidan's a great J-Rock group who style themselves after bosozoku, Japanese delinquents who're known for their love of motorbikes. One Night Carnival is one of their more popular songs; it even appeared as a stage in the Japan-only rhythm game Osu! Tatake! Ouendan! (Yes, that's the same Ouendan that inspired Elite Beat Agents)

I'm listening to fun. live performances. Barlights is probably the best song in the world, and you can legally have it for free thanks to a live ep, (though it is live, obviously) fun. - Before Shane Went to BangkokI don't know if anyone is actually interested, but hey, they're my favorite western band, I've gotta support them somehow. Edit for grammar/spelling, it's going to be difficult to break my typing habits, haha.

MMLS: Part of the 1% of the internet that makes you a better typer. Fun's pretty neat.
Idina Menzel just released the video for her duet with Michael Bublé. It might be the only pro music video I've watched that has its own credits section. She's got a Christmas album out now and for some reason I still don't own it.

Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold (extended cover) from The Hobbit
I remember well in the book how Bilbo mulled over the idea of joining the dwarves as they sang this kind of dirge for the kingdom they lost, but resolve to reclaim. While the basic jist of it was put into the movie, hearing the whole version really immersed one in the sense of what Bilbo may have felt: the love of beautiful things- a desire to go and see the great mountains, hear the pine trees and the waterfalls- to wear a sword instead of a walking stick....
To my knowledge, there is a second part of this, and I have a feeling of what that portion will cover, so I won't listen to that one until after I see The Battle of the Five Armies, next month.

Y'know the new Smash Bros., right? I've been keeping up with it in general, particularly the music, and this piece impressed me: Hip Tanaka (who was the tune's original composer, btw) did this remix and it's incredible. It sounds like a new electro-house song that'd be playing in a really popular nightclub. I have a strong affinity for electronic music, and this version of Chill is pretty much everything I ever could've asked for! I'm really looking forward to hearing more of his remixes- if any of them are even a fraction as good as this one, I'll just set the game so that only his music ever plays.

Got curious the other day to see if it even existed and it did, some fallout themed dubstep.

Oh wow, all of this music is so good. That video was the cutest thing I've seen in a while. Thank you for re-inspiring Christmas for me, I just wasn't feeling it until that. That Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold cover is really beautiful, I can feel that understanding you describe Bilbo feeling. It hits me deep with things I struggle to keep onward with. I'll have to see that movie sometime.
As for my listening habits... well, again I fall under that pop rock category, but this time with someone less old.
I really love this band, and I hope you can forgive their recent surge to popularity, and give this really beautiful song a listen. even though i say that, I still haven't met anyone I've had to defend them against. Most people still haven't heard of them, and everyone else loves them. Guess I'm paranoid from my love of fun., whom a lot of people still feel bitter towards from they're radio play circa 2012.

Apparently Ola Gjeilo (the pianist and composer) has been a hot item with choirs over the past five years. I really wish there were more studio recordings of this kind of thing floating around. You really lose something when you record live performances.

Also lovingly known as the theme of the Youtube duo GenerikB and BDoubleO100, The "B-Team", a lovable duo of rapscallion Minecraft players, Stal is one of my favorite music tracks in Minecraft. Available in-game as a rare Music Disc drop from Creepers you've managed to kill via friendly fire from a Skeleton, Stal is a deployment of smooth, dark jazz that bears reminiscence to those dark, smoky dens of iniquity from the days of prohibition, a composition that leaves you begging for another loop.
If you like the song, purchase it from:

One movie I looked forward to, last year, was The Book of Life. I saw it on the Day of the Dead, as well. The art style is indeed one of a kind, and I remember seeing the bit in this movie where this song comes in. A confession of love done in a way it feels earthy and genuine, but beautifully done. I like to say more, but I think I'll save that for the animation sub-board.
