Thanks. Kobun 20 is pretty much exactly who I was counting on.

Really nice find indeed!
what ive been wondering, do they add these beta stuff to actual game so players who love to dig things from gamedata get extra for their money
or
by pure accident.

^^ It's all about: A "Okay, this town is gonna look like this."
*shows to board of directors*
A "The board says that we change the appearance. It looks like a shack or something, they want a small round city."
B "What about the city we already started?"
A "Make it inaccessible except thru debugging."
Or something like that. Could've been changed for other reasons too.

Part 3 : www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZY-V3LW8zE(Well I have an update.) The last interesting area I could find in the Rockman Dash 2 beta I went from 0-60 on the stage modifier. everything after 41 crashes. I used different music because often in the beta when you goto areas you shouldn't be in the sound flips out completely so I just picked a random version of moon song sitting on my HDD. The only really notable thing here is the odd texure and what seems to be an unfinished river and maybe the reaverbots that crash the game if you look at them. (I still can't get these dang cheat engine codes to convert to gameshark as easily as the MM64 codes did.)

That's an interesting find you've got there, Trege.
Find it odd that looking at reaverbots would crash the game and the odd texture is interesting.

Nice Cave Story background! That reaverbot wall looks a little familiar. I feel as if I've seen something like it before in a totally unrelated game, but it slipped my mind. Could have been a dream, even. Test test test, can you hear me now? By the way, the rivers are a whole lot more fun when they're unfinished anyways. I could jet skate off of that thing all day long and not get bored. They should have given us a half-pipe in Legends 2 or something...

The open green fields with rocky protrusions (a.k.a Calbania Island) is one of my favourite areas in the game to be in, so to see it used so often as a beta area (and thus to see more/different versions of it) is very wonderful. : ) Notable in particular here is what you called an empty riverbed- it could also be some kind of trench/natural canyon, and would have been a most welcome change in environment for Calbania in the final version. Otherwise the giant cubes with the changing texture may have been used to test draw distances (?), and the rock face with 'test' written in English to test how repeated textures would look like in motion. Well done, Trege- while not the most mind-blowing of discoveries, what you've discovered is pleasing and has certainly left us a bit of food for thought. ;D

Alright if anyone wants to test this I should have the gameshark code for the Beta now.
Beta Stage select 8006C9AC 0000
(0007 is the beta town though it starts you in the air you have to find your way to it I wouldn't suggest testing this on the ruins mission it worked for me on Shu's mission you have to talk to her then enter a door.)
I didn't know PEC had a cheat search function until I talked to Chiz so I just used my cheat engine to watch the value changes to show me what to search for in PEC itself.

That entire beta / test area looked like a real fun place to explore. The unfinished rivers, 'test' graffiti and those buildings ( if that is what they we're supposed to be ) seemed to mesh together nicely even though its just a beta area.
