The same person who invents your Shining Laser, derp. She was only testing a old prototype of it with a fraction of its power turned on. So you'd better watch your rear, Triggs - to the lady you kneel, or great pain you'll feel! Credit where it's due though: that gun was what her father created out of scraps in this adaptation.
I imagine she would do that with a BB gun or something, but I like to think of her as putting safety as a major priority. At least unless you make her mad.
Also for a bit of fun, what kind of moveset do you all imagine Roll having in-game?
We got her father's gun, her sidearm-thing, grenades... anything else?

Well, I once made a drawing of a Roll from an alternate universe who carries a really big wrench which she uses as a melee weapon, (think about Thanos's double sword) but I don't know if your Roll from this universe would like that. About hand to hand combat, it would be cool if she learned some Judo moves, basically just the kind of grapples and throws to knock the opponent down so she can recover some distance to use her gun or grenades. Shion from Xenosaga is who inspired this idea, or Denise Marmalade, if she can knock down a big Mecha like the Gustaff so can Roll (In the case you are saving all those moves for Denise whenever she appears in the comic is ok too) You know what? Just give her CQC, that'll be epic.
EDIT: Found the drawing, it's from 2013 so I feel embarrassed to show it now, but I thought it was necessary.

As for weapons, here's two I came up with after some thought processing: Parabola Arm (Oops! Wrong game. We're technically talking about MML1, not MML2. Oh well.): Makes opponents laugh uncontrollably and renders their equipment and weapons useless. Then, she could just buster/kick/judo throw the sugar snaps out of them whilst they unvoluntarily force the air from their lungs. Flutter Arm: Able to make Roll dash and tackle into opponents with a "Falcon Punch"-like move. Invulnerable when in use. Allows for an air dash ala MMX2-style. Alternatively could also be used to jump very high or hover in the air for some sick mid-air combat. Still a pretty snazzy drawing, even if it's 6-7 years old. I don't typically draw Roll without her hat. Man, I love the idea of her using that giant wrench, wielding it around like it's Darth Maul's saber. Roll's Sabrewrench! That's both terrifying and epic at the same time!

Interestingly, I had something similar back in 2010. Also, yeah... shameful old art back when I was going into the "blurs and gradients for everything" phase of drawing. This was before I started RMDL, if I remember right.
Much old shame. Very bad proportions. Such embarrass. In light of looking into negative feedback from a certain film trilogy, I know I have to play out her involvement in action carefully as Roll cannot overshadow Rock in terms of in-story power creep. Which I felt was important to emphasize that both of them had training and she has some inherent strengths from her family line that gives it some plausibility.
Or it could just be me bullshitting and I just want an excuse for her in damaged clothing. :v

I like the idea of Roll playing out as a more technical fighter to contrast with Rock's more direct heavy hitting play style, and I can see this working really well if enemies can get status effects as well like some RPGs.
I remember a Flutter-styled weapon being a popular design idea here and there, though definitely the first time I see it for use by Roll.
I imagine this as a good "get through crowded areas quick" move not unlike the Black Panther ability from Castlevania.

Speaking of weapons, I'm just going to share a WIP draft here right now. Discuss! Oooh, not bad. Not bad at all. I hereby dubeth ye weapon " Hi-Torque Buster" I presume that it is a multi-function weapon, as was the suggestions I had illustrated from before were designed to have many different applications as well - I like the idea of multi-function weapons in general. It's what makes weapons in any Mega Man game unique and more likeable. You don't see too many of them, even in the Legends series where many of them still have one and only one purpose alone (Vacuum Arm, Shield Arm, Drill Arm from MML1 are prime examples.) On one hand, she could fire plasma blasts out from the main barrel; on the other hand, I imagine it could possibly also be used like a Hookshot Clawshot from Zelda to attach to her opponents or other objects for a more thorough digout in the ruins. And when she's not kicking Reaverbutt (or Bonnebutt for that matter,) Roll could use it for mechanical repairs to whatever machine it applies to. Definitely like the way it fits both Roll's more engineer side as well as her more badass one. Out of curiousity, is this a main or special weapon? I presume Roll, like Rock, could possess both. My ideas feel more like typical Special Weapons, and I can see her pairing one of them with that weapon right there... that'd make for a pretty impressive arsenal itself. [Also, I'm a hurlin' my self at ya like a Miroc right now! *hits invisible wall* Ow.]

Oh, that weapon is based on the one from the art book with a lot of unused designs right? I remember now that I've actually planned to draw that weapon too in that old drawing of mine but I kinda went lazy and just put it on Roll's holster, you can't see it, but it's definitely there. I think it's a cool idea to give Roll some sort of weird handgun that shows her taste on power tools, even better you can practically turn any tool into a weapon so there's a loot of room to experiment with that. 👍
Edit: I checked, and there's actually artwork of her holding that thing, but it isn't specifically a gun(?)

Definitely like the way it fits both Roll's more engineer side as well as her more badass one. I have not really thought of a name for it actually, though its basic functions in-story have already been planned out from the start. Like what Rockman Striker mentioned, it's explicitly that gun-looking item Roll holds in one of her official artwork (which was also shown in the PSP port's splash screen). As far as I know, there was no name or even a hint of what it actually is, so I just decided to make it whatever works best for Roll as a character and how it works within this story. As for naming, at most I gave the weapon a model number for completion's sake, but that's about it.
At least in the context of Roll, it could be something else if her gameplay mechanics are different from Rock's.
Just off the top of my head, her weapons could be magazine/cartridge-based which does not refill over time while in combat but needs time to reload as a move in itself, thus making her play style a little more "Real" compared to Rock's "Super". Kind of like 08th MS Team units in the Gundam VS series.
Also worth nothing is that unlike most hand-held firearms, Rock could technically use it in combat while wearing armor as there's no trigger guard. Does that mean huge money drops by shooting you? Or was that only in the sequel?
Oh, that weapon is based on the one from the art book with a lot of unused designs right? And yep, definitely power tool-looking, though the bottom of it could be interpreted as something similar to the base of a Luger magazine.
A bit of history fun: While the Luger is mostly known for its service in Germany and Switzerland, for a (short) period of time it was manufactured under French control.
I have no idea what it is, nor does any guide or concept book I know of even hints at it so it's free game for whatever I do with it unless it's completely story-breaking. Back when I first played RMD1, I remember coming across that one piece of artwork of her and was really hoping she would use it in-game.
Boy was I disappointed. :v

Yep. Enjoy a box full of delicious anxiety, Rock. Roll had her share, stressing over your safety, but now it's your turn to play the chicken. Chicken... Great. Now I'm craving for some Fried Chicken. Crap. [looks at page 2] And YES!!! It's official, now! She's turned it into a Buster gun! Whoo!!! Knowing Roll, it's actually not surprising, considering she made the Shining Laser using a toy X-Buster. She's got a knack for turning harmless objects into WMDs (though the Prism Crystal is not exactly harmless.) That said, I wonder what she would construct out of a super soaker or a Nerf gun. Probably a more efficient Aqua Blaster for the former (the F.L.U.D.D. Buster, wait. No.) Or maybe something more combative perhaps. Also, sorry for my overposting while updating my art thread. I had that already planned out since yesterday...

Roll would love to give Tron the bird. :v All sorts of illegal modding, probably similar to how airsoft guns get overclocked to dangerous levels. Pretty crazy how much a change in piston spring, motor torque, sealing gasket, and heavy-duty gears could do to make those plastic pellets shatter glass.

My sentiments exactly there. Could make something out of it (preferably PG13 rated,) but it probably won't be rearing its head until May. But trust me, it'll be a fowl experience for Tron. Update: You, yes you. Why are you still reading this when two new pages have been uploaded just now?
Wow, that was fast. I didn't expect that he'd made it to the Clozer gate so quickly (Roll probably had retrofitted the Support Car with cannons and turrets, turning it into essentially a tank and blasting any offending Leopordos out of the way.) That'd make a good 1.5 bonus episode... Yes, I know that she can't take the vehicle into the Yass Plains in MML1 proper, but that's besides the point. Honestly, I can't see a good reason why she can't especially since the Support Car can get past the other city gates... just sayin'. Oh yeah, and looks like we've got a giant mole problem ahead.

Nothing like cutting it to the chase; I guess that's all she (Roll) ever wrote, eh?
At Rock: I'm not surprised; I'm not sure why you're acting so surprised, though. Have you ever noticed how loud your footsteps are? That pitter-patter you make is very loud indeed, Mr. Triggs. Seriously, you couldn't even sneak by those kids in the market even if your life depended on it. And that's when you're just WALKING.
Teisel: "Your weapon is nothing but a peashooter against the great Marlwolf!!!"
Well, when life gives you peas, you make pea-ade a Pea Buster. I have a hunch that Teisel hates vegetables in general; the Bonnes didn't even try to steal Kimotoma residents' pickles in MML2. Probably wouldn't steal Bronte's stuff either...
Also, hur hur, MAULWURF. It's not wurf trying to sugar coat the fact that you, Teisel Bonne sir, named that mech the German for "mole." Nor is digging that big hole; you may need to rethink a way of achieving your goal.
