I'm not exactly sure what the issue even is anymore, so yeah let's shut up. STEERING THINGS BACK ON TOPIC: Hey guys they're talking about Megaman Legends on 1up.com! Pretty neat, huh?

Interesting. Something tells me (remotely, though) this may be the first of a trend, at present.

Hey, the fact that the interviewers even asked about Legends should say something, even if Inafune had a chance to look at the questions beforehand and it wasn't really impromptu at all (which I'm not saying it wasn't, but I'm not saying it was either, just bringing up the possibility), is saying that there are still people (other than us) who care about the series.
The thing that confounds me the most is that while Capcom just posted and rigged a poll asking Japanese fans which series they'd like to see continued and fixed it so X won, Inafune still said that he and several members of Capcom wanted to make Legends 3 the most out of Legends, X, and Classic. I'd like to think there's hope, but I can see where Green's coming from, even if it is abrasive. Seven years of getting your hopes and dreams stomped on can make you a little more than cynical and constantly suspicious.

I find this naivety sickening much more so. You know what they say. Ignorance is bliss. To hope is to want a chance guys. It's to take the risk of being heartbroken while being excited for a sequel. I had to admit, I was excited to find a Legends forum, but upon finding the almost zombie-like will to hope, my attendance dropped critically. But if they do make a Legends game someday, I'll be standing here saying "I told you so." Green, if you truly believe they arn't going to make a Legends game, thats fine. If anyone wants to believe that they will, that's even better. But PLEASE, will everyone stop trying to drag the believers into the depths of emoness and despair? Unless some enjoys having a miserable outlook on a series with a small but strong fanbase. Darfox8, I salute you for standing up for your fandom and bringing this to everyones attention. Those who truly love a series will always defend the fandom, just as I stated my first day here. I appreciate the gathering of fans guys. It's a great feeling to know I'm not the only total Legends freak out there. But overall, I'd have to say I'm disappointed in most of you. No one's asking to lead revolts, we're just asking to hope and not disregard everything! Anyway, back on topic... I haven't seen the graphics for DMC4 or Lost Planet yet... Is it really that good?

you're testing my patience now.. I said I'm NOT going to post in this thread(and I WASN'T) but you still unload all that bull**** on me. Don't give me that crap. You're no truer a fan than I am for believing this bs. So I'm going to try this again: I have a few things to say in response to what you posted and THEN I'm NOT POSTING IN THIS THREAD ANY MORE. One, I don't believe that "they arn't going to make a Legends game." Maybe Inafune will die some day and it will get done(/joke). I just don't believe that this interview means anything in the big picture. Two, I'm not trying to "drag" anyone "into the depths of emoness and despair," it just pisses me off that after all the crap we've heard from Capcom over the years, the slightest mention of DASH still makes people here get their hopes way up again. We should be able to see through this bs by now. In fact, I'm quite surprised this wasn't met with anger on the part of most fans because for some strange reason a lot of people out there were expecting news of a DASH 3 this year.. supposedly Inafune said something to that effect, (once again) five years ago. I still have yet to find a source for that, but a year or two ago people were talking about it all over the place, "DASH 3 will come in 2007, Inafune said so!!".. o_õAnd three, well I just wanted to point out that by starting off with 'ignorance is bliss' in that post there it was really hard to take anything you said seriously. That's all I have to say, and I would like to, once again, end my involvement in this topic right here.Continue with the talking about how great it's going to be when Capcom makes DASH 3; at least two people at Capcom are interested now, so it's bound to happen soon!! ...

Okay... okay. I'll feel kind of sad if we can't post this news(or non news as I positioned it in the OP) in a forum for Megaman Legends. I became aware awhile ago that I was one of the few posters in this board that played dozens of other games besides Legends. I own a 360 and a PS3(by my own money... which ran out) and I listen to about a dozen podcast and I am subscribed to atleast one videogame magazine at a time. I know alot of people in these boards don't really care about the next Gears of War or Assasins Creed but I do. I fit pretty nicely into that hardcore gamer role(Though I'm not really proud of that because thats basically a marketing term by now.) But while I'm a hardcore gamer I'm sort of a casual Legends fan. Even though I beat each game with pretty much a 100%(I upgraded every weapon to the max... for no reason) If you look back on my posting history I hardly ever post about Legends. For some reason I never felt compelled to post in the game specific sections. I mostly just hung around here and in the non Legends side of things. Though, every once in a while through my normal life as a gamer I might stumble apound a nugget of Legends news and I rush her to post it to try and be part of the community. And usually they turn into flame wars(sorry mods). It happened with the PSP ports, news that Keiji Inafune was still makeing a bunch of other games that weren't legends(which I guess I was asking for it then), and now with this thread. If we can't get atleast alittle excited about a main stream site speaking so highly of Legends then we're alittle to far gone. I'm not accusing anyone of not being a fan or being too much of a fan(so you don't have to post if you've resigned from this thread). I'm just explaining why I felt this was thread worthy. The creater of the series coming out and saying that he's to scared to lose alot of money is pretty upfront. Again I, as someone how goes to these sites, know that they will be offended at the idea that the interview was staged(I know no one really said it). It's probably the worst kind of insult for members of the press. Especially since 1up frequently gets introuble for running their mouths off.If people read the Original Post they can see that I'm as skeptical of Legends 3 as I'm excited at the idea of mainstream praise for Legends. This is not us complaining about the X series being over rated in some fan board. This is one of the biggest gameing sites longing for a Legends 3. Sure none of that means that a Legends 3 is actually going to be made but it's awesome to listen too. Besides, Inafune saying that he wants to make Legends 3 but it cost Hella money is not "BS". Just like saying that "They have an engine that could work for Legends 3" doesn't not mean that they're going to make it. It's the truth and Keiji Inafune gave it to us straight. Well. Now that I indulged my self with probably the longest thread I've written. I think I'll go and try and finish GTA: San Andreas. It's hard as hell.

Very interesting piece of news. Personally, I have some hope for MML3, but all of this arguing is starting to annoy me. And why is the same person always the one who's fighting...?

I wish I knew, Blues. Anyway, lets try to stop the arguing now everyone (it looks like it has stopped this time, hopefully it will stay like this). We can have opposing opinions and express them without arguing to this degree, I don't see why this hasn't been happening already.
I am happy about this interview. Even if it doesn't lead to anything in the future, at least I got some answers (money issues, risk, etc). Even though I knew this part already, it enforces that Inafune still acknowledges Legends' existence and even wants to make a Legends 3 (even though I saw him say it, I know that doesn’t mean it WILL happen, but still, that’s where that hope comes in!).
I love the Legends series, so any "news" related to Legends makes me excited, because I'm like that. =3 For a while now, any thing about Legends would get me excited. To me, it shows that even if we don't have a Legends 3, the Legends series isn't completely dead yet. Like some people may have shoved it in a hole, buried it and left it for dead, but it's still alive under there…somewhere! I'm just happy someone directly asked him the question of Legends 3, and I was able to see the answer.

The legends series is still alive in the hearts and souls of those crazy Legends fans just like a fat kids loves cake.
You give a fat kid cake, he'll be happy until he gets hungry again. It's similar to the crazy hardcore legends fans. You give us some info or a glimer of hope, We'll go crazy and be happy then go "YES! We're getting a sequel!" or something to similar to that. Then become sad again because they lied to us once again.
I have to side with Green on this one. I will not go crazy with this info until I see a release date or a cheap trailer, which ever comes first.
It's nice to know that he wants to make a sequel but his reasons for not making it are reasonable. You have to remember Money Speaks.
It's always about the money. The first legends game made alot of money and it became a greatest hit. The only reason he don't have a sequel is money. Keiji said when he had the time he would love to do it but he already had the time and he didn't. It's always money. That's why they are making this continue of the Battle Network Series and the Zero series.
The only thing I'm wondering now is what is going to the next Mega man title. Usually Capcom has their Trio of Mega man games. They only have a duo now. There could be some slim chance of Legends 3 but I doubt it. It will be replaced by an X9. I can bet money on that.

If Inafune really does love Legends the way he claims to, then I can understand EXACTLY why he turned down Inticreates' offer to make a third a few years back, and why it's not being made now--he said it himself, he'd rather they put all the effort they could into making it than hash out a mediocre, low-budget game like what the company's currently been producing. Remember how at one point, nearly all of us has thought, "Would Legends 3 really be worth it if the quality of the game reflected that of the Battle Network series?" Since Mega Man games aren't high-budget titles anyway, it's only logical that none of the employees who do want to make the game are really pushing for it, especially considering the target audience for the company's higher budget titles. It's not that crucial to have amazing graphics, sound, and gameplay in a kids' game (at least, I've yet to hear an elementary school kid voice an opinion about it). Pouring fifteen million dollars (what Inafune said it would take him to start developing the game right now) into developing a high-risk, high-budget game where you don't even know how it's going to sell is not something that many companies are willing to do. If I were very rich, I'd pay that kind of money to get Legends 3 made, but I don't even have enough money to buy a 360, much less completely fund the startup costs for development on a high-end video game in another country. And going around selling lemonade and mowing lawns to raise money for MML3 is just plain crazy. I'll stick with voting 1000+ times in a rigged Capcom poll, thank you very much.

Does anybody remember those fake DS screens RPM made for April Fools? If you do, those were some pretty damn good screens they made.
At this point, I would accept something like that. Legends hasn't been that "OMG! Looks at the GRAPHICS!" kind of game. It has always been more story based and has some decent game play.
It could work on the DS and/or PSP. It doesn't have to be a mainstream game or anything like that.
Another thought came to my mind. If they would create and release a Dash 3, what would happen to the people that have never played it the series before. They will all go, "WTF!? Why is that person on the moon and want is that Master System..Blah..Blah?"
That would to do something about that like make a collection for the series. It would help the newbie understand the game more and it could make Capcom some money. Also it would be the decider if a Legends 3 would be worth it all.
You have to remember that over the years the Mega man Legends series have grown a huge fan base.

I have to side with Green on this one. I will not go crazy with this info until I see a release date or a cheap trailer, which ever comes first. Your not much better than all us fat kids(by the way I'm actually fat so if you wanna FIGHT!!! I'LL FIGHT!!!!!!) A release date in the video game world is not very reliable. Rockstar is the only game company that keeps it's release dates. But even now with GTA 4 it looks like they might slip. And trailers are worse off. This is the trailer for Duke Nukem Forever that was released in 1998OMG it's so hightek and polished it must be close to release. ALWAY BET ON DUKE!!!!!! Not. It was delayed. Until in 2001 we saw this trailer. Looking a fair amount better but it still hasn't been released. It's been in development for over ten years and George Broussard(the directer of the game for these decades)still says that it's in development and it's going to blow you away. It's become a big joke by now. "Get back to work you Slacker" "I was born to change the world" "Damn, I make this look good" ~Duke Nukem The point of this isn't to make unfair comparisons between MML 3 and Duke Nukem Forever. It's not even about making stupid references to one of the stupides/awesomes video game series out there. The point is to say that every thing is relative. Nothing is really concrete until the websites start getting preview builds of that game. Even then a game might be scraped. I like to maintain that I've not gotten my hopes up since the PSP ports. And even then I wasn't crushed that MML3 wasn't annoucne within 6 months. I can probably wait for ever; since we might never get a sequel. But I still like to hear about any possible Legends news. I'll get excited about Keiji talking about Legends 3 any day. I wont expect a game but I'll get excited on the prospect. Anyways... the moral of the story is... ALWAYS BET ON DUKE!!!!!!!!!! By the way. This is how the game supposedly looks now.

It could work on the DS and/or PSP. It doesn't have to be a mainstream game or anything like that. Honestly, I doubt it would work on the PSP. The mainstream target audience for that little machine is so wrong that the game's bound to flop. If anything, their best bet would be to go for the DS, though I don't know how they'd be able to integrate the system's features besides having a map on the bottom (and how boring is that?) That concern was also addressed in the responses from 1up AND here on MMLS in the past. In fact, it's the only logical way of going about prepping the world for a Legends 3, and is also what generated so much hope around here upon the announcement and subsequent release of the Japanese PSP ports. Unfortunately, as I stated before, the PSP just isn't big enough in Japan or even here to make the game sell well, and a port of MML, however good, is still just a port, despite whatever fanbase the game has already. Of course, if they did release cruddy PSP ports here in the US, I'd still buy them, AND buy a PSP just so I could play them. It would be the only thing out there that would get me to buy a PSP at all. Duke Nukem Forever's really more of a gamer's joke than anything now, but hey, if they can make Mother 3 all these years later, and if they can bring Fire Emblem to the USA after all this time, and if they can produce Gunstar Super Heroes, and if the fact that Pit's in SSBB gets another Kid Icarus game, there still may be hope yet!

All of the hardcore legends would do the same thing. I know some of the Classic and X fans did the same thing with Powered up and the X version too.

Yeah, Mega Man Powered Up's almost worth a PSP by itself.
I read Toastyfrog's MML post, and it was pretty good, although there wasn't much there that hasn't been said by most of us at some time or other. I think the only way they'll actually be able to do a sequel is if INAFKING and his producers start burning the midnight oil, making Rockman DASH 3 a labor of love that they squeeze in. It's not totally out the question, because that's what happened with Mega Man 2 -- the team was working on one NES game during the day, then they'd develop Mega Man 2 in their spare time. It ended up being highly successful everywhere.
