I have a complaint/question. The intro thread? Need I say more?
I probably don't, but since a post of less than a hundred words with my name attached to it would be fate worse than death I quickly elaborate.
I know I thought it was a good Idea when fab instigated it, but nobody seems to be using it anymore. And they really should with the rediculous post they come up with. Not to say that they're stuip, but they're short, it's almost like they're just commenting on the fact that they're there now instead of introducting it.
Ergo I suggest two things. One) maybe put a note in the 'congatulations you have been accepted to the MMLS forums' e-mail that they should post in the introductory thread first, and two) set up a team of really big jerks to say hi to everybody who insists on starting their own thread.
What do you think? I know one big jerk who's ready and willing to start throwing his weight around at the sound of PM.
Or you could think of something better, assuming such a something actually exists.

People have been a bit non-descriptive with their intros but that's why we question them! And I think fab said that the Intros thread was optional. I don't really think there's that much of a problem with it.

I agree with Pitch. It may not be in the most frequent of use these days, but look how many newcomers have used it since it was created. And really, not many people make very long posts when they first enter the forums. The rules here differ from many other forums (or so I'm told), so it may take some time for them to get used to it. If anything, the introduction thread has saved us the trouble to look through many other boards that would have been made if each of the new members who decided to introduce themselves there made their own threads. The inactivity, I think, stems more from a lack of new members then from disinterest. At least half the new members who join these days use the thread for their first post. The law of averages will retort, I assure you. I like the idea of hiring a bunch of people to greet new members though. Sort of like a welcoming party. However, that's not really needed. Nearly everyone who joins gets about a page of responses to their board, if they choose to make one. And as for your phobia of less-then-100-character posts: mmls.proboards7.com/index.cgi?board=talkgeneral&action=display&n=1&thread=1256o.o

That doesn't count, I was distraught!
Whatever you might think of that post, remember that was before I had come to terms with the whole... 'the drabbles are as dead as a doornail' thing, and the denile was begining to show.
But I'm over it now.
He said as his teeth clenched themselves at the very memory of writing stories in a fair weather forum.
If only he hadn't mentioned the term livejournal loser.
If only Bluerobotgirl and FireGriffin and AaronD and... well Shelldragon, ph! forget her, but if only those threehadn't of started on that whole political discussion down ward spiral.
I only I wasn't such a big jerk.
P-shaw!
You know you love it baby!
In anycase let the newcomers do what they want, the in the land of the 'n00bs' (I hate that phrase) the man who can control his own retching is king. I can't. Big surprise. I have a feeling in my gut that in a very limited time whatever happens on this forum will be entirly none of my business.
