I'm sure you're all well aware that in a little over a month, we’ll be hitting our ten-year mark. October 24, 2010. On that date it will have been ten years since the last time anybody outside of Japan has seen a Mega Man Legends game released…and even there, all they got were a couple of PSP ports and a cell phone game.
Since 2000, we’ve all developed different tastes, opinions, viewpoints and interests. Our outlooks on life and Legends have most likely changed several times over. Either that, or you guys have all kept the same interests and I'm just a weird Broadway musical dork who somehow wound up running a video game forum. :12:
However, wherever we all are in life now, once upon a time we were just a bunch of kids who all liked the same video game.* With that in mind, I invite you all to use whatever skills you’ve acquired over the past decade to create a retrospective tribute to the game we all loved and to the ten years that have come and gone since then, in an event that’s one part showcase, one part contest, and one part snowball.
I have deliberately left this event open-ended to allow for variety. Chances are pretty good that we’ve gone on to learn all sorts of different things, so I left it vague to try and illustrate that sentiment. Start with what you know and are good at and work with that. However, if you’re really stuck and need a nudge in the right direction, here are a few springboards I’ve come up with to get you started:
In other words, figure out a creative way to use the skills you have to show your fellow forum-goers that it has been a very long time since the last time we saw any Legends releases outside of Japan.
The deadline for submission is October 23, 2010 at 23:59 CST (MMLS Forum Default Time). Please PM your submissions to yours truly by then.**
If you are into collecting those little event badges under your username, you're in luck. All participants will receive one just for submitting an entry. We will also be voting on which Legends tribute best represents the insanely long wait we’ve had to endure the last ten years in a separate thread. Voting will run from October 24th until Halloween, so please turn your submissions in on time—the winner gets a cooler prize on top of that. I trust that over the last ten years, you’ve grown up enough to not all vote for yourselves.
TL;DR: In the last ten years since Capcom gave us a Legends game, we learned a load of different things. Use those things you learned to create a retrospective tribute to ten years of not getting more Legends games. Turn what you've got in by October 23rd, 2010. Medals will be awarded to participants and there will be other prizes too.
If anyone’s unclear on anything I’ve said thus far, feel free to ask for a clarification. Other than that, you have until October 23 to come up with something cool. Ready…go!
*Unless, of course, you just got into this series yesterday from watching Youtube playthroughs. If this is the case, you're at a disadvantage. I apologize for the inconvenience.
**If your submission is weird and can't be sent over PM for some reason, PM me in advance and we can figure something else out.

- Take an old piece of Legends fan work from when you first got into the series and redo it with your current skills. Submit both versions for comparison.
- Make a nice showcase of how much the world's changed since 2000 and how despite this, we still don't have a Legends 3.
- Show us all what you've been doing with the series for the last ten years.
- Show us all what you think the characters have been doing for the last ten years.
