Hahah. Yeah, Calinca Ruins' theme just about drove me insane when I played back in the day. It really grates on your nerves after a while. I think it's supposed to do that. :01:

I've always loved the Calinca Ruins theme. That mysterious, haunting tone really sets the imagination off and creates the perfect mood for the final ruin of the game. The bells never annoyed me at all, strangley enough. I tend to like similar winter/ice-themed music with that same sound. I guess it takes all kinds though. I could see other people getting frustrated listening to it. Not me though.

Well, It's definitely not a horrible track. Infact, I liked it from a listeners point of view.
But from a composers point of view, it could use a little progression. I liked the lead synth you had and would like to stealz it from you. You could also probably have some more dynamics as well, especially with the drums. I think that could really transform this track. Other than that...yeah, it's pretty decent. I would love to hear a version with these revisions/additions, but you're the composer. If you're satisfied with what you've created, then that's all that matters. :3

I agree on the progression issue, just dont know exactly how to tackle that yet ;D
When you say 'dynamics' do you mean the sound force like in classical sheet music or the filter expression?
Thank you for listening and even more for giving advice!

Dynamics as in softer sections and build ups. There's one section in particular I think would have a great effect.
Basic run-down...I think the beginning starts off a little strong with the drums (and maybe a possible bass instrument? I can't tell to be honest). Maybe lower their velocity to get softer hits, but when they hit leading to the "lead" section with the awesome synth, that hit is fine the way it is. Also, during the lead section, you could "humanize" the choir a bit so they aren't always at the same velocity. The section after is the one I mentioned before. I think a build up from the lead section to the next one would be awesome. For example, drums start off soft and passive and as the song progresses toward the second lead section, the drums get stronger, louder and more aggressive. Then you'll need an epic break just before the lead section hits...then you'll need a new drum pattern for the remainder of the track. It builds the anticipation for the second lead section. Then when the second lead section hits, let'er rip my friend.
From there, you can do what you like. I think it ends fine the way you have it. Now, I typed that straight from listening to it. So if you wanna try implementing these ideas, by all means, have at it. Just for me, it's what I hear going on in my head.
OH! And the second lead section...maybe add in a secondary lead synth to accentuate the first? Maybe even have a counter-melody. But yeah...honestly, you don't NEED progression, but it might be a nice touch. ^_^

Absolutely no complaints from me. I think it captures the ominous feeling of the original just fine and enhances it. The percussion gives it an intense seriousness that makes it sound like a good arrangement for the final triumphant stretch of the stage.

I am somewhat eager to hear the Legends 3 OST XD Also thank you very much for all the feedback :3 Also, here's a remix of a remix of the Defense Zone i made really quick. The Defense Zone is actually a very simple song :u www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/369522

I really liked your other Defense Zone remix, and this one is great as well. It has a different sort of feel though. The first one was more intense, felt like it was all about the action. This one has a ghostly tone to it, mixing in more of the ominous power of Elysium along with that action. I could go with either one for substituted level music.

I'd be interested in seeing this film project of yours, is it finished? I'm a filmmaker myself :3

It has been a while, Legends Station. But as we all say: Legends never dies. That's why in 2013 also, I work on Remixes. Proudly presenting 44 Seconds of highly polished two year work Rockman Dash 2 - Elysium Defense Zone 2013 Edit
I'm so pumped for all the Fanmade games. Thank you so much for keeping this franchise alive in spite of Capcom. It's hard not to hate on them, since they represent the creative equivalent of a bad parent to me. Did I just seriously call everyone here "Game-Youth-Services"?!
