I thought about putting this on the other thread, but since this is a fully fledged suggestion and it comes from me well, i thought i'd make a new thread. Merge them with the other one if you wish.
Anyway, the suggestion is to rename the miscellaneous fan works section to "Art Forum" or "General Art Works".
A long time ago, and to this day, any art not related to legends has always been placed in the miscellaneous fan works section, but this is kind of dumb, since that completely limits the submission of works to fan works only and no original work, at least this is the general misconception, but when i personally asked about submitting original works about two years ago, i was replied with "Put them in the miscellaneous fan works section i guess", so why not rename it to a section that we can put any form of art not related to legends, no matter if original or fanart of any other serie/videogame/show/etc?

I figured I should ask before putting stuff up just to check that no one has a problem. Is it okay for me to put up some non-Megaman related things I've made? Specifically I'd like to put up some games which I have under way (I know I have a legends game in the works too but these are shorter term projects) as well as a little art or writing I've done if anyone's interested in it. "Post all fan-made game threads here, Legends or otherwise".That should answer your question. I'd like to see more Legends related things there, but I think limiting people's creativity is what kills any activity in that board. I was actually thinking of posting an original game I'm working on ( i.e: totally unrelated to any established work, i.e2: Actual creativity ). So yeah! Go for it. EDIT: Now that I look at it, "fan-made" kind of implies that it has to be, y'know, fan-made. I don't think anyone's gonna complain though, will they? Look at my tarot cards in the fan stuff forum, how they are not related to legends in any way, and how nobody says anything. That should be enough as well when taking examples into account. "Post all fan-made game threads here, Legends or otherwise". ∗ Green would like to point out that that doesn't necessarily mean Non- Mega Man works are OK ∗ Then that's awfully vague and misleading. Other than Legends means just that. I see nothing pertaining to the Megaman series in that description at all, other than Legends. That's the thread. Coulda just linked to it I guess, but... Anyway, I'm all for the rename. Only because I was just as confused as bdk was about the art/creative forums when I joined. I wouldn't be surprised if the forums started out Megaman/other games/movie/book/tv/animu/ related, and then mods just became more lenient about it as time went on, but with no obvious change of rules warranting the thread being renamed. Or maybe mods just use the word fanart loosely enough to be synonymous with the word art. lol. Not really a big deal in my opinion. Just kinda confusing.

I'm for it. I'd go switch 'em now but that'd be just plain impulsive, presumptuous, and reckless, so I'll sit back and see what the other mods have to say on it. (Not that I expect that there'd be much of a debate over something this trivial.)

support++; Coming from an administration that puts emphasis on grammar, the lack of clarity in board descriptions is unsettling. Also, Re: Posting in the Fan Stuff forumB-R-E-T's right. It doesn't have to be Mega Man related at all. For clarity's sake, I was referring to the Fan Art/Fiction/Games forum particularly. (i.e., not Misc. Fan Works) People have definitely been busted for posting non-Mega Man works in the Fan Art section. (possibly the others too) o__o; Of course, those are the forums with the ambiguous specification of "Legends or otherwise," anyway, so I'd assume you knew those were the forums in question. If non-Mega Man works are supposed to be allowed there, the rest of the staff should probably be informed, and if non-Mega Man works aren't supposed to be allowed, the board descriptions need more clarity there as well. >___< Err... well yeah. Something like that.

If they have been busted, I probably wasn't the one who busted them. I was always under the impression that "Legends or otherwise" meant "anything goes." It's been worded that way ever since fab first added the sub-forums, if I recall correctly. In fact, if the staff were under the impression that only Mega Man related works were allowed, we probably would've sent out a LOT of warnings about it over the past few years. Even AimMan.EXE was posting non-MegaMan stuff while he was still an admin. So yeah, for as far back as I can remember, there really hasn't been any sort of Mega Man Only policy.

When I hear a lick of an opinion out of the other mods. Seriously, it's like those guys are napping on the job again. And I know if I just jump on it, I'm probably going to hear some kind of "why didn't we all discuss this first?" line from at least one of them. So...er...are you there, guys? It's me, Dashe...

A name change would be fine wih me, if members are so confused by it....I don't see why not.

Same here. As far as my memory goes, there have been no bustings doled out just for posting non-Legends work. I myself have been posting original/non-Megaman artwork for years. There have never really been any restrictions on the kind of creative works anyone can put up (maybe barring pornographic/extreme content stuff, though I'm sure we've even allowed some borderline cases there). I kind of took it that this was all just part of the general understanding, but if the board labels are causing some confusion, by all means, let's change them. Also, sorry for the late reply. Kind of took Thanksgiving off.

We weren't talking about switching "Fan _____" to "Creative _____", or something along those lines? I must have misunderstood all the confusion behind the issue to begin with. I have no problem with how it is now, or even how it was to begin with. Just nitpickin'.

I thought the idea was to change "Miscellaneous Fan Works" to "General Art..." (which would contain all "Creative _____" w/o changing the "Fan" boards) >___<;

Yeah, that was the idea, but if they changed the whole section i wouldn't mind.
