I know, I'm the last person who should suggest this, for not having completing any fangame projects due to hardware trouble or game engine errors but has anyone ever thought of a Legends online fangame? Maybe like a community wide project or something, but slightly simpler being in 2D and a side scroller, or even overhead, using a program other then byond? such as Game Maker or something, the best I've ever done is what I've released so far, I tried making my legends fangame Internet compatible, it worked about 10% but it had horrible dsync errors each player would view the other player as floating in the sky with gravity glitched,
anyways has anyone ever thought of making one, where as the player would choose to be a digger spotter or pirate, and such? I have a few ideas but I don't think I could pull them together by myself, I'm only useful for the engine and such I suck at mapping and animation, I have a bit of knowledge at editing sound but not much, anyways anyone ever thought of putting together a team and working on something like this?
I don't mean something as big as a MMORPG but maybe one where the users can host servers, or join servers, a MMORPG would be too hard to handle.
Anyways I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Count me out of this, i hate to see people get hopes up for nothing. One thing i can say though, you'll never make a playable one with game maker, period. Also, community wide? What community? This? El oh el. As you said, i'd prefer listening to thoughts of someone who finished at least ONE legends game or that went far without giving up to the point of using something of his or her creation unto it.
So yeah, i'm being a little douche here, sorry.

I don't really mind what you said, but I do have one thing to point out, Game Maker is perfectly capable of online games and 3D ones, I've seen them done at the main website of GM, and it is capable of fully playable ones, especially if you have GM 7.0 Pro. (And I haven't finished a game because of Hardware issues, and an unstable OS. Which I've currently obtained a new OS and my hardware issues are fixed, and I know where to get resources now, anyways thanks for the replying, I''m going to revive my Megaman legends past fan game and finish it. since I've learned of a new movement system that runs much smoother then my old one, a lot less glitchy as well.)

If you can round up a team of competent and devoted people, then count me in. An online sidescroller/dungeon crawler sounds awesome.

Well that's why I was asking around here for a bit, I do know of two people to ask outside the forums the only problem is, most of the time they're offlline, and I probably won't think about getting a team together, till I finish, one fangame by myself, or learn more about Game Maker, this topic was mainly to discuss what people would think of the idea, not to get anyones hopes up, and to possibly put a team together on these forums someday.

This³.
It sounds like a terribly exciting idea, but it also sounds quite ambitious. I'd love to see it happen, but the unfortunate truth is that most who attempt something like this haven't properly prepared themselves. Build up to it, I say. Practice practice practice.. (I'm not really one to talk, though, having no experience myself)

It's ok, I plan on studying that way if a project like this, is ever attempted theres a chance it would work, I'm currently working on Megaman Legends Past again, and I'm going to be studying Game Maker as I do it.
