Anybody been watching this? They show it on Disney XD, and it's a pretty awesome show! The way the storyline is written is pretty great, and there are some pretty interesting plot developments. If you enjoyed the 90's cartoon, you'll probably like this one even better.

I've seen it here and there. The problem with the show is that it is entirely unnecessary; the Spider-Man: The Animated Series cartoon was perfect, except for the odd momments of cheap animation. This "new" cartoon will just be following the same plot lines (only two seasons and they've already got to Venom?), only with different writing and a terrible art style. I'm sorry, but those huge omelette eyes just creep me out.
Besides, the best Spider-man cartoon EVER was Spider-man Unlimited. Don't believe me? Look THAT up on youtube. Great writting, great animation, and the alternate universe plot is actually INTERESTING, to the point that I care about it's characters more than the established Marvel Universe.

I've seen it here and there. The problem with the show is that it is entirely unnecessary; the Spider-Man: The Animated Series cartoon was perfect, except for the odd momments of cheap animation. I liked Spiderman TAS, despite some moments of cheap animation s you noted, and also the censorship. Seriously, it was kinda lame how Spiderman couldn't punch, as well as lot of other censorship hijinks.
Some of the story elements were kind of awkward as well. I didn't like the idea Electro being the Red-Skull's son, and the Hydro-Mary Jane was pretty awkward. I actually liked the Clone Saga, despite the bad rap it gets. I didn't know why Venom had that multi-colored look to him, either.
This "new" cartoon will just be following the same plot lines (only two seasons and they've already got to Venom?), only with different writing and a terrible art style. I'm sorry, but those huge omelette eyes just creep me out. I have to disagree with you there. SSM actually differentiates itself from the original series in a a number of ways:
- Different people as villains (i.e. Montana as Shocker, O'Hirn as Rhino)
- Peter is still in High School
- Design elements are completely different
- Spiderman's jokes are funnier
- They way the handled the symbiote situation blew Spiderman 3 out of the water
I actually like the new art style for the most part. It helps differentiate it from other shows. A few examples:
- Rhino looked fat in the 90's cartoon. His new design makes him look more menacing.
- Spiderman's design doesn't bother me too much. I don't get how his eves move with the costume on, but it's no big deal. Spiderman's web-swinging in this show is flawless, and it looks a lot smoother that in TAS.
- While I would rather Vulture be green, his new costume looks better that abombination in TAS.
- I like Venom here for the most part. Personally, I wouldn't have made his arms so huge, but at least they made him all black.
- Chameleon is better here; that transformation belt was a weird idea.
Besides that, in this show Eddie Brok and Peter Parker are friends from the beginning of the show. It makes it pretty flexible to place Venom in during the first season. Heck, the symbiote saga was in the 1st season of Spiderman TAS as well.
Yes, I've watched SMU, and I liked it to a degree, but some of the art changes were a bit awkward, and it only lasted 11 episodes. The counter-earth thing was kind of weird until I got used to it; it's one of those shows where if you don't watch the first episode, you'll have no idea what's going on. Also, I thought Venom and Carnage were drawn horribly in that show, not to mention my distaste for Spider-Man's cape.
They show isn't bad at all, but I certainly wouldn't call it the best spider-man cartoon.

Took a peek. Those fight scenes are pretty awesome. Peter's eyes are sort of weird though- there's almost no white showing sometimes.

A little bit off topic, but I just found a website that lets you read every Ultimate Spider-man issue on the internet. To put it plainly, they blow the old series' out of the water in every department (which is actually really hard for me to say, being such a fan of classic Spider-Man). Heres a link to the first issue; if I'm breaking any rules by doing this, just take out the link: www.maleos.com/marvel_ultimate_spiderman---/001
