So this cop has been parked across the street from our condominiums for awhile... Can't remember seeing him before. But last week I went to go pick up some art crap for school, and as I pull out and drive down the street I pass this guy parked facing the other direction. Like most people, I freak for a brief second and check my speedometer. No big deal, whatever. I'm going exactly 25. But I check my rearview and this guy just isn't there anymore. Nothin' but tire tracks.
I hate turning left on busy streets during rush hour so I usually just weave around two blocks until I reach a light. There is no way this guy could know which way I'm headed. I mean, I choose the most erratic route and he's going the opposite way (I'm not trying to lose this guy, just rather drive instead of wait for traffic to clear). I'm a few miles down the street and this guy's car just appears out of the blue, tailing me. Like, wtf. He tails my @#$ for miles until he decides to pull me over.
He gives me this bull@#$% reason for pulling me over, then after going over my license for 10 minutes he approaches my car again and asks if I "seen any black kids around [my] condo unit" (I'm quoting a man who supposedly represents the law, so please don't get on my back about racism). I tell him yeah, who doesn't. It's a mixed community. Some of my friends are black. There are no black tenants in our complex, but I'd be lying if I said there are none around on occasion. Then he asks if I know a guy named ___ _____. I say yeah, ___ _____ owns the unit right next to us.
He then tells me that they were given a tip that ___ _____ was letting a wanted black kid stay at their place. Wanted for "something pretty decent". Oh, ok. "Have a good evening".
I'm leaving Michaels™ with what I set out for, and lo and behold this guy is parked on the side of the building poking the nose of his car out from behind the wall. Ok, I'm getting a little irritated. I don't see him at all until I'm turning into my street, he automagically appears right behind me. He doesn't give me any trouble, but he's certainly making his presence known.
Now, I figure at the time it's just this once. They'll either find the supposed evil black man hiding in the depths of our condos, or they'll just catch the individual and leave me the #$%^ alone.
Not the case. I see This Guy™ everywhere I go, now. He's driving me nuts. He's always right behind me, right in front of me, to my left or right... but I never see this #$%^er until he's dangerously close. On my way to school, to my friends, to the store... #$%^.
He's making me paranoid. I dread leaving my condo now. I mean... is this even legal? Doesn't this constitute harassment or invasion of privacy? I can't file a complaint because This Guy™ is a cop himself.
What should I do?
TL;DR:
Police think I'm harboring a fugitive, and they're following me everywhere I go. And I can't do anything about it because they're bigger than me. D:
