Well, I went to see this with my sister this evening, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked the first one a lot (the music was pure awesomness) and I was excited to see what happened in the sequel (I wanted to read the books beforehand, as I never read them before, but i didn't have the chance) and I liked it. The story kept me intrigued, and I noticed some of the major Christian parallels as the plot unfolded.
Although I found the climactic battle scenes to be intense, I did find this one to be noticeably darker than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which may be why I prefered the first one. A thing that bothered me about this one was the bloodshed. I know it was necessary and all but the kids seem kind of young to be that used to fighting in wars. Aside from that though, the fights kept me on the edge of my seat and I did enjoy the roles of the young actors (which is good for me since I hate child\adolescent actors). I really felt for them (gosh that was corny). Altough I found them to be a bit stale at the beginning of the movie...
I noticed that a lot of the music was re-taken (is that a word?) fromt the first film, the most noticeable being the "heroic" leitmotif found here and there. I didn't quite notice the newly composed music, but I'll wait until I get the soundtrack to judge it.
All in all, I enjoyed this movie a lot, despite its dark overtones and frequent bloodshed. It was a good movie that had some intense climactic sequences as well as some sweet, more colorful scenes. And I liked the themes of loyalty, courage and chivalvry, as well as the Christian parallels of faith and humility. I would say that I liked the first movie a little better, however, although I couldn't say why.
