! -- This post is not as long as it looks. Clocked myself in at 5 minutes to read the thing and I wasn't even reading that fast -- !
I'll humor you, Pharoah, since you're so whiny about it. If I lose my interest in Yuna, and in doing so, my interest in Legends, and in doing so, end up leaving this site forever, and going back to the *gasp* EXE series, over this topic though, it'll be your fault.
FIRST OFF:
Yuna from FFX is definitely the greatest Yuna. Come on, she has one blue eye and one green eye
~! that'll do, *Scrolls down some* !~Also, she doesn't have hair that is sometimes blue and sometimes green.
Okay, so a Green eye and a Blue eye is okay, but changing hair color isn't - even when it's the same two colors? I can go for that I suppose.
MML Yuna's hair - evidently, was blue in her concept design. It also, was actual hair, which I'll admit would've been a lot cooler had they included it in the game. So, her hair doesn't change color, Capcom just hadn't had their mind made up with blue. At least, that's my take on it. Officially, as far as the games go, it's always been green.
Next off,
I've said it before, I'll say it again, this is an impossible battleground for me to fight on. I've never played FFX, and I don't intend to, I have NO reason to say anything bad about your precious FF Yuna in terms of character.
However,
WHY, OH WHY did she have to be YUNA? I mean, of all the combinations of letters... Try to do a google search on MML's Yuna, and you'll find nothing but FFX pages!! It's awful! I often find myself discussing favorite video game characters with friends (offline), and I say "Yeah, mines from a game called MegaMan Legends. Her name's Yuna." and the immediate response is "Oh, you mean "FFX"(people actually say "FFX" as in "Eff, Eff, Ecks")" And I say "No, MegaMan Legends." And they just stare at me blankly. Some have even said "No, Yuna's from 'FFX'."
So, WHY,of all the possible combinations of Letters, why Yuna? Any other four letter name would do. Think about it.
Four letters, four empty spaces, 26 possibilities in each space, what is that like 26
4 possibilities
(456976), not figuring in that the name make sense?
EDIT: Recalculating Letter combinations as you read
EDIT2: Recalculated, and it turns out I was right.... if you don't mind a read
Ignore this otherwise(continued Yuna rant below):
But no, her name is Yuna. Same as the less-known game's even littler known character's name. Quite the inconvenience to her devoted fans, let me tell you.
1/12/06 5PM(CST) EDIT: *takes free-bullet away*
I'd like to just mention that I've long since known why FFX Yuna is named Yuna. I still find it terribly inconvenient that one of perhaps the most popular characters from one of the most popular installments of one of the most popular series in the history of games has to share the name of an underappreciated character in the most underappreciated game of an underappreciated series, who I'm so ironically obsessed with. But I do understand, completely, that Yuna's name is of a lunar nature - somehow meaning "moon" in some crazy language or whatever - which is opposite of some other character within FFX, so as to create a sorta balanced, yin-yang effect. I've known that since last summer(it was actually mentioned in the Legends for PSP topic). I hadn't mentioned it before, because, well... I won't really get into that, but much like any topic started by me, my responses to topics oft go without response, so I tend to leave blatant mistakes in these debate posts to get my opposers going. Pharoah's made me mad though, so I may as well throw up what I had in mind for my response to the response I was waiting for him to make, thus for now making my entire arguement complete.
The above is, as of 1/8/05 my only gripe with FFX's Yuna.
But must we argue character in terms of character within the character - while I can't say a bad thing about your FF Yuna - I'll cover the deep beauty of the character that is Mistress Yuna of MegaMan Legends.
I... won't get into the details as far as storyline goes, to prove what I'm saying is true - as I'd hope you'd know, but if I must get into them later, should you pose a question, I will.
Now, the easiest way I could describe Mistress Yuna, is
Yuna : Sera
Kaoru : Rei
(Yuna is to Sera / as / Kaoru is to Rei)
But I'll assume you haven't seen Evangelion(as not all people have). I bring Sera up, because, well let's face it, NO ONE who's played Legends 2, doesn't understand Sera's character(almost the same as no one who's seen Eva doesn't know Rei, but that's a different story entirely).
Now, what I mean to say is, that Yuna embodies a characteristic of Freewill. That is, in the simplest terms anyway. And the easiest way to convey that characteristic is through her most (and practically only) quotable line:
"Just be true to you, yourself, and Follow where your heart leads you." <3!!
So, what is that and why is it important? To be honest, I suppose it depends on the type of character you're into. I, personally find, that were Yuna real, I'd probably feel very at home with her, so to speak. She's got like an aura about her that's just... welcoming. I dunno how else to put it. I mean, I dunno maybe FF Yuna's like that too, but this is just what I understand about MML Yuna from like, only three or four brief scenes with brief bits of dialogue. FF Yuna had 2 games to show her "deep and complex" personality, I picked up what I know about Yuna from a few words from her mouth and a few subordinate clauses of other characters' sentences. ^-^ If she had her own game, I think we'd all appreciate her as much as I do.
I've covered pretty much my whole arguement on character, though I could say a little more it would pretty much just reiterate what I said with scenes from the games as proof that what I say is true. So I won't bother.
In terms of design, seriously c'mon? I mean pshaw, what do you have to say about FF Yuna? Multi-colored eyes and boots that clash with her outfit? Mistress Yuna has like 3+ foot GREEN Hair!! That's more unique than anything! And if not, there're her red eyes(which have a surprising amount of warmth to them
(red usually being associated with anger)). Her outfit matches, but it's pretty neat too. She's got the Elysian symbols on her shoulders, as well as on her wrist thing-ama-jig. Maybe not your cup o' tea, but I think it's at least on par with FF Yuna's design. I mean, she stands out, even with the uniqueness to most Legends characters' designs - I really think that's sayin something.
Well, I've spent over an hour typing this up, while I should be working on school work for Monday, so I'll put off anything I have left to say, for after your response, should you have anything else to say for your precious FF Yuna. Thank you, and goodnight!
Keep on Rockin' on,

(Days of anticipation later)EDIT: Curse you Pharoah! I played into your bloody topic, gave you a reason to shoot, even put a free-bullet in the gun for you to shoot with, and you still haven't pulled the trigger. Geez. Next time you whine and complain that I won't post in your bloody topic, I'm just gonna laugh, and laugh and laugh.
(of course, such a situation will never arise again, but I'm furious now; if you were really such a fan of that bloody Final Fantasy W h o r e you'd have responded ages ago)
EDIT!!!!111oneoneone
Well I got it folks. An admittance of defeat. Here we are
Let me just say PWN'd. That is all. Now let there never again be a question of Mistress Yuna's complete and absolute pwnage over all other Yunas.
