Hey gang This is the Digimon thread! I remember watching this with my sister when I was younger, and it was only until recently that I re watched a few old episodes and realized why we enjoyed it so much in the first place. It was an excellent show that was pretty highly regarded. Some may see it as a Pokemon clone, but it actually has way more depth. The characters each have their own, unique personalities, and they actually evolve and progress as the show goes on, and the digivolution of their Digimon and their crests actually depend on their relationship with said Digimon. Character development and character interaction is crucial in this show, at least as crucial as any cartoon show gets. And also, unlike Pokemon, it doesn't have 8 seasons and 3000 episodes and counting....the first season only had fifty episodes which although may not seem like much, it actually has time to go through 4-5 different sagas. And the characters aren't wandering aimlessly with no goal they want to achieve. They actually finish what they set out to do. The first season is by far, the best, while the second season is pretty cool too, (except for the new characters, who turned out to be more annoying than any character can get on an anime show) and me and my sister didn't really grab on to season 3 and 4, although they seemed pretty interesting. I may be making a bit too much of this, but I really enjoy watching them, tell me what you think.

I remember seeing Digimon years ago. It was definitely something interesting. I'd have to say the 1st season was probably the best of the bunch. You've put in a lot of good points regarding the series and its characters, especially since it was more story driven.
It makes me wish they'd start from the 1st season over again.

Yeah, I watched Digimon. I watched it all the way to the fourth season, and I'm so weird that I've even seen fansubbed episodes of the fifth, which despite the different art style and the fact that they reused Agumon as the main Digimon (gaaaah! It cheeses me off!) is actually not half bad at all plotwise.
The first season was my favorite, mostly because it was constantly clear as to what the kids were trying to do. Sometimes watching later seasons, I'd get confused or lose interest, but I never lost track of them during Season 1. Plus, Izzy was cool. On the flip side, due to a glaringly blatant use of foreshadowing, I knew weeks in advance that Kari was going to be the eighth Digidestined without even looking up spoilers online...not that I even HAD the Internet when I was watching the first season of Digimon, but you get the point. They could've been a bit more subtle with that one.
The second season was fun because it gave closure on what happened to the original Digidestined. I didn't have too much of a problem with the new kids. Davis was actually pretty funny, considering his crush on Kari and the fact that he was almost twice as stupid as Tai was. Yolei bugged me though, mostly since her dub name was just as hard to pronounce as her Japanese name. Why even change it? Her battle outfit was dumb and her Digimon was a boy, which really weirded me out. I actually tolerated Ken, but I know a lot of people who thought he needed to stop whining and get a life.
The third season was okay at the start but it got way too confusing. I didn't find the characters particularly likable. I stopped watching it halfway through.
I actually liked the fourth season's concept a lot, but I thought the execution was severely flawed, mainly due to the fact that they only focused on Takuya and Koji and virtually ignored every other character in the show. I didn't like either of them very much. They seemed too much like Tai and Matt knockoffs. I wanted to see more of Zoe, J.P., and Tomoki's (I refuse to call him Tommy--Tomoki is too cool of a name) stories play out, because they really seemed like they could have been really interesting if they were properly developed.
That's pretty much my take on Digimon. I wonder if Season 5's ever going to hit US shores?

I love Digimon! However, I personally like Pokemon more, but this is the digimon topic, I'll spread my love of Digimon!
I liked the first season. I think a lot of people like it so much because it introduced them to Digimon in general. I admit, it was pretty cool, it got me crazy about Digimon but I think it's overrated. I knew Hikari was the 8th digi destined as well, I thought it was obvious.
I liked the idea of the second season, it kept me interested long enough to watch to see the end. I'm not a big fan of the ending though. Oh, I was upset because the whole Kari/Davis/T.K. mini love triangle was never solved. (Go Tk + Kari! >_>) Also, the Digimon who wanted to take Kari with him only showed up in one or two episodes, never to be acknowledged again....I guess because what he wanted to do was so disturbing (that undersea master guy).
Digimon Tamers is personally my favourite season. I think people don't like it as much because it was "too different" from Adventure 1 and 2, and that's understandable. I thought it was amazing. I liked the storyline, it was more mature, that's what really got me interested in it. Complicated was good in this case. I love Tamers so much! I found the characters to be entertaining, especially Jery and her...dog puppet.
Frontier....I wasn't a huge fan of it. I just watched it because I'm a digimon fan. I got so annoyed with the kids loosing ALL the time until all the digi-codes were basically gone. There's only so many times I can tolerate a bunch of kids loosing over and over again to the same people. The characters weren't that interesting.....except for Koichi.
The fifth season, Digimon Savers, is pretty good so far in my opinion. I'm watching the fan subbed stuff, I'm only on about episode 30 though. Can't wait to see the rest! I didn't like how Yoshino was useless at the start (fighting wise). It was like that in season 4 as well, Zoe lost every battle for a while.
I'll talk about the Digimon World games as well. Crap. Crap. And more crap. Digimon World was....passable I guess, but it still had it's flaws. I found Digimon World 2 to be the most enjoyable, but that's not saying much, and 3 was just awful (Kyubimon's tails looked like PENCILS!! Te enenmy digimon were way too overleveled at times, the training system was stupid, and the attack animations were lame). Why did I waste my like with those games. v_v However, Digimon World DS is...decent! I never thought I would ever play a good Digimon game in my life....I'm so happy now.
I think it's rumoured that Digimon Savers is supposed to be coming to NA in 2007, I think I heard summer. That was a while ago, it may have changed.

Yeah, season one was great.....I remember when me and my sister were watching the episode where Angewomon appears for the first time, I still remember that scene where Kari catches the crest tag and then...BAM!
As for season two, me and my sister were really excited and it was very well thought out. I just didn't like the bland, colorless new characters, and the fact that Davis's digimon gets all the great digivolutions....and the ending dissapointed me somewhat, I didn't really enjoy the idea of digidestined kids all over the world, and while in the first season, the kids destroyed apocalymon with their bare strength and the help of their digivices, they killed MaloMyotismon with their digivices, but also with their dreams.....oooh how original.
Me and my sister watched the begining of season 3, and we really enjoyed it, although it just felt a bit weirder and darker, but near the end we had missed too many episodes and just gave up.
I loved Season 4's theme song, but we only discovered Season 4 itself halfway throughout the season, plus the fact that the humans didn't have any partner digimon didn't really interest us.
I'd like to check out Season 5 anytime I could, it's supposed to have a more elaborate storyline to approach a wider audience.
Has anyone seen the movie? You know, the American one. I remember me and my sister and my friends going to see it, and we were all like "Squeal!" and it did not dissapoint us one bit. I just rewatched it recently, and I enjoyed it even more. I already knew that it was made from three other movies, but it was only up until now that I realized how much it was edited, especially the third one. Normally, I'd prefer the original version, but the dubbed version appeals to me so much more, I loved the cheesy music, the inside jokes, and the severe editing of the third movie didn't bother me so much since the actual version I found pretty boring. My favourite would have to be Our War Game, it has all the original characters you know and love, plus the pace is so frantic and exciting!
I remember renting the digimon world games, but I was too young to really make an opinion of it, I'd like to buy the first and second ones, and digimon DS, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...

Digimon? Yes! I remember those cute little Digital Monsters. That show was way better than Pokemon. I must kill all Pokemon. Of course when Digimon first came out I just thought it was a cheap Pokemon knock off. Is it? I do not know. Wait yes I do. It's not a cheap Pokemon knock off.
I like the whole series and I don't really have many complaints about it. I thought the fourth season was kind of odd. When I first seen it I thought and yelled at my T.V., "WHAT THE (watermelon!)" They didn't have partner digimon or anything. They were Sprits..which I thought were kind of stupid. It kind of reminds of Power Rangers.
I can't wait for Season 5 to hit U.S shores.
Also I was wonder where can I find those stubbed episodes of season 5. I can only find them without any subtitles. Can somebody help me!?

I don't dabble too much in the digimon games, but DW2 has to be my favorite of the bunch. I remember back in the day, I had a knack for raising strong digimon that can handle any foe. Those Blood Knights had no idea what hit them. heh heh heh.... Sometimes, aside from the battles, there are little things that leave an interesting inpression. In season 1, the kids end up having a sort of 'egg debate' over what they would have on thier eggs.. Wierd... Then there's the season 4 hamburger contest..that was funny. "..I think I saw it move.... " lol. Takuya and Koji had a certain kind of culinary genius: the kind that should stay out of the kitchen!!! ;D
