I've been pretty involved in City of Villains beta lately. Yeah, I'm getting my copy of City of Villains sometime around the 29th (two days early for preorder! ). Anyways, does anyone else play either of the two? They're pretty good; you do have to pay online fees, but you can actually play both for one fee. The character customizer is amazing, and there's a good many power combinations. It's only being made more expansive with new mission types, powers, and the secret base system of City of Villains. I would definatly suggest it, if anyone's thinking about getting into online RPGs.

I played City of Heroes at my cousin's, but my little PC and crap connection can't take the weight of a real online game. It was really really cool though, especially since I made my guy really wimpy-looking and short!

Definately CoH's crowning feature is its character customization. Besides 5 different archtypes (2 unlockable!), you get tons of different primary and secondary sets with each, and then seperate powers amongst those! You get to choose an extra pool set later on allowing you to travel more quickly or enhancing fighting ability, and later on you can get... well, I'm not exactly sure what they're called. Epic power sets, maybe?
Appearance customization is great as well. Edit your base (male, female, huge male), customize your build, and then give you character a completly unique look using a huge palette of colors and an unbelievable stock of costume parts. Later on, you can even get capes and awesome glowy effects.
I usually log in on the Triumph server myself; sometime Champion or a few others.
EDIT: Er, forgive me, I know absolutely no computer termonology. I do know that I'm not using DSL though, I'm using Road Runner/Time Warner Cable. Sorry I can't be more specific. -_-
