Does ANYONE have this game?? I would bet I'm the only one . I got Chihuahua and Friends (I wanted Daschund and Friends but it was sold out . I WANT A PUG) and now have a girl, brown brindle boxer named Blandianna. She knows how to shake and roll over. She used to know how to sit and lay on her side but the commands weren't clear enough so I deleted them and plan to teach them to her tomorrow. I have 350 trainer points. I HONESTLY HOPE I CAN UNLOCK A PUG (I have a pug in real life and I just want to raise mine right XD). I've found a camo collar, a checked bow, like 3 boxes of tissues, a juice bottle, LIKE 5 STUPID BUBBLE BLOWERS, a dog photo, and a tennis ball. I HOPE THAT'S ENOUGH STATS FOR ALL OF YOU. Even if you don't own the game and have questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I don't have it just yet, but I'm planning on getting it.
I do have a question though. You said something about commands not being clear enough, or something to that effect? How do those work?

I played a demo version in Gamestop last week, and it was so addictive! If it is indeed out now, I MUST HAVE THAT GAME!!!! I read in Gamepro that the different versions are exactly the same except for the breeds you start out with. Does that mean that if you get, say, Dachsund and friends, you'll be able to unlock the Lab and Chihuahua later on in the game, or just every other dog? Do you really only need one version to get all the breeds in the game?

As I said earlier I don't have the game, but I dug this up from GameFAQs...
...hahahah... 'dug it up'.. man I'm so corny.
I think this says you can get all breeds in all versions.

When you get your puppy to, let's say, lay down, then a lightbulb appears at the top right corner. Touch that and a little microphone will appear over your puppy. This indicates that you're supposed to associate a verbal command with the trick they just performed, in this case, laying down, so you could say "Lay down", or "lay", or even "Yuna" and if it was said not too loudly, then a lightbulb will appear over the puppy's head. It still hasn't associated it yet: you have to repeat the above process over again about 4 more times using the same word as the first before you will just say the word and your puppy will do the trick. The thing about clarity is that if you rush "Lay down" it'll sound different than when you say "Lay down" clearly. This is the problem I had (except it was with sit and lay on the side). You can forget tricks and reteach them to your dog. This is what I had to do. After reteaching Sit and associating it with "Sit down", I realize that my dog just doesn't like to sit! That's her hardest trick. You just have to make them do the trick and when they do it, pet them a lot. I just got first in the obedience trial with her, so I'm happy. I SOMETIMES GET SO FRUSTRATED WITH HER BEING STUPID THAT I WANNA YELL. ARGH.

My gosh.. for a game that seemed so utterly gimmickly stupid when I first heard of it, it sure does sound like quite an intricately awesome game now. (note to self: BUY Nintendogs. ..after I find my DS)
What other neat stuff can ya do?

The competitions are tons of fun. There are 2 commentators: one is down to earth and the other one is just plain freaky @_@. They have obedience where they tell you to do these tricks in this order and you have to get your dog to do it using only your voice. Then there's the agility competition where they have hurdles, tubes, and see-saws which they have to go through in a certain order. And finally is the disc (frisbee) competition which I haven't done yet @_@. Walking your dog is key to the whole game though. When you choose to go for a walk, you can decide the course. There are 5 major stops you can go to for a while: 2 discount shops where you can buy stuff at a much lower price (you can go to the normal store at any time when you're home), 2 parks: one will have 2 dogs inside of it on the map screen indicating there are other dogs to play with and the other one will be empty (this is where you're supposed to practice with the frisbee), and finally, the gymnasium where your dog can train for the agility competition. Also on the map will be little squares with question marks. If you decide to take your route to one of these, one of two things (that I've seen so far) will happen: your dog will find you a present or you'll meet another owner and their dog. When you find a present, you can keep it forever or sell it. When you meet the owner and their dog, your two dogs can play and you two can talk. My dog doesn't behave well with other dogs . Also on walks your dog can go to the bathroom. When they pee, a blue circle (kind of like a puddle) will appear on the map indicating where your dog peed. I don't know what this does @_@ (maybe it's different with boy dogs with the whole territorial thing and all). Next your dog can poop. If you tap on it, you'll pick it up. Although I've never left it, I believe you'll get a ticket and money taken away. Lastly, there will be things on the ground. So far, I've seen another present that your dog won't pick up unless you yank the leash towards it and garbage that your dog'll eat and make sick unless you pull it away. As aforementioned, there are items that you can play with with your dog. My favorite is still the standard tennis ball. I've seen that if your dog goes and gets the tennis ball and starts playing with it, if you call its name, he/she'll bring it back. If you pet him/her afterwards, throw it again, and repeat the process over again, it'll bring it back to you automatically when it catches it. PHEW, there's a lot to this game!!!

Wow...digital dog poop...that sounds like a very complex, advanced kind of Tamagotchi to me, not that that's a bad thing ! This actually might shape up to be one of the DS's best titles to date! It would be like having a real dog...except it doesn't stink up the house and wreck all your furniture. Does the game progress in realtime like Animal Crossing and the later Pokemon installments, or does it just stop once you turn off your DS?

Wow, this game sounds cool. I looked at the video review on Gamespot and that made me want it even more.....too bad I can't get a DS....I'm trying to get a PSP first(for Legends!).
Do the puppy's grow up to be adult dogs? If they don't what happens to them? Do they age and stuff so you could have like a 99 year old puppy?

It does progress in realtime, so when you play at midnight and decide to take your dog for a walk, it'll be dark out. Also, you're dog will probably be asleep and won't want to do anything. The only thing that I think progresses when you're not playing is your dog's hunger and thirst levels. Other than that, I think it's boredom might increase as well, but I'm not sure.
As for the aging, I'm not too sure. My puppy looks a bit older than when I first got her, but I've only had it for a week, so maybe it ages as fast as a real dog. I'd kinda like her to age, but then again, kinda not. I have a boxer and a chihuahua, and I wouldn't be able to see the chihuahua with the boxer in the way XD.

I just got chihuahua and friends yesterday. I'd have probably bought a different version had it not been the ONLY COPY of the game left in the store, but hey, I was desperate. Since then I've racked up 780 or so trainer points and picked up a load of stuff off the side of the road. I got a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Bon, and I'm planning to get two other dogs to name after the other two Bonnes. If you want a pug you're gonna have to go out and find someone who's got one and use Bark Mode! Good luck, from what I've heard on the street nearly EVERYONE's got chihuahua! Of course, you could always try and rack up trainer points and see where that gets you...
