Ok, I need to know...is this game good or not? I've been looking at reviews and a lot of them are...different. Some say it's good, some say it's ok, and others say it's just plain horrible. The whole pushing A for the whole battle seems like a let down...and I read Mayl's plot and I wasn't that impressed with how far it went....so if anyone has this game or just knows something about it, I'd really like your opinions!

Well I don't have the game, but I've played it a little and all I can say about it is if you like having total control of your navi, it's not the game for you.
The basic concept, like the other games is that you compile your chip folder and battle with it. The difference? The chips come up in random order and you have little say in how they're used. It's a card game, only a lot more limited. It's like the card game "War" if you've played that, but a little more complicated.
If you really want to be other navis, I suggest getting 4.5. Even that has a bit of a screw'd up battle system, but it's much better than this. Of course you could just get Double Team on the DS when that comes out, if you have one. Battle Chip Challenge is really just an entirely random game.
Though I have heard that the plot for most characters gives you a little more insight to their personality, so you may want to pick it up if that sort of thing interests you.

Yeah, I like to be in control. I've heard a lot of people say that it's a real pain not being able to control your navi but everything being kinda random. I've heard the game is addicting, though. For the plot I was only interested in Mayl's plot, and it didn't turn out to progress that far. Maybe Lan's would be better... So I could just save myself some money and time by just reading the gamescript. But I wouldn't want to miss out on a game I might actually enjoy. The game shouldn't be too expensive, right? Less than 29.99 Canadian I hope...I'm so short on cash.
I've never heard of the cardgame"war" so I'm lost there. Maybe I should learn some new card games other than Crazy 8's and Go Fish. XP

Never played war... well that's not surprising. I'm not sure why they call it that, so you may know it under another name. War is basically a card game where you split the deck in two, and you and the other person just flip over the top card, and whoever has the higher card wins - then you take your opponenets card and whoever ends the game with all the cards wins, but that doesn't relate to BCC. BCC is kinda like that, in that the chips are drawn at random and whoever ends up with the best hand wins after a few rounds. You still get to customize your folder, but the thirty chips are drawn at random... It's kinda bogus.
