Well, like I usually do, I'm going through a game series freak out phase, like I did with MML, which was how I found this site . I did it with Parappa the Rapper, Bomberman, and now I'm obsessing over Kirby. I recently bought Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Kirby Canvas Curse, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (which I bought at NOA HQ ). They all rock. Except I have one big gripe about all of them: YOU LOSE YOUR FRIGGIN' COPY ABILITY AS SOON AS YOU GET HIT!!! Is it just me, or is this a new thing? I don't remember that happening in Kirby's Adventure or Kirby: Super Star Saga. But out of those three, Canvas Curse is by far the best. It's definitely the best game on the DS right now as well. Man, it's so great.... It's long and has tons of replayability, excellent game play, and the best graphics and music I've seen in a long time. If you own a DS, do yourself a favor and get Canvas Curse. Now DISCUSS KIRBY....................

In the Kirby game on the NES, when you got hit, you'd lose your power too. =/
That said, the only Kirby game I've played seriously has been just that, the one on the NES. I found it ridiculously enjoyable, I did, and I'd LOVE to be able to buy the more current ones like crazy, but MegaMan consumes my gaming budget, which by is small to begin with as I don't have a solid job.
So yeah, that's all I really have to say on the matter, unless I should talk about the NES version, which I oh so vaguely remember.
500th post! w00t!

Oh man, I love the NES version. It was so much fun and was so big for an NES game at the time. The graphics rocked and the powers were very diverse. But I swear, I don't remember losing your power after one hit. I remember losing it after several hits, but not one. Nightmare in Dream Land is a remake of Kirby's Adventure, but that overwhelming flaw makes it really hard to play.
Did anyone own the original for the Gameboy? Man, that was a great game. Even though Kirby was white and couldn't use the copy ability that he's so famous for, it was challenging and looked great.

Dude, I'm pretty sure one hit lost you your power in the NES version. ...maybe it was two... I dunno, I think it was one. I remember you could get it back right away though.
But yeah, I really liked the NES version. I must've played it like a million times. One thing I really liked was when you consume two enemies, you got a Mix one, that would go through all of the possibilities and land on any of them. Lets ya get the interesting ones earlier on in the game I think. ^^

No, you definitely lost your power with one hit in Kirby's Adventure, but you could inhale it right back in after that if you caught up to the star in time. In Canvas Curse, you just lose it, but it's not as big of a deal as it was in the earlier games.
By the by, I'm having a blast with Canvas Curse right now.

Oh man, if that was the case, then I don't know how I survived that game. It's SO annoying. At least with Canvas Curse, you have a lot more life. AND 250 FRIGGIN' MEDALS!!! Oh, and remember to leave Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land or Kirby & the Amazing Mirror in the GBA port on the bottom when you beat it because you get the Waddle Doo ball when you win which is really cool. I still have to get the Meta Knight ball. Right now, I have 160 medals, which totally rules. Has anyone beaten level three of Paint Panic? It's impossibly hard @_@
EDIT: After just popping it in moments after this post, I realized something: PAINT PANIC CHEATS SO BAD!!!!!

Man I wish I knew what people were talking about when they speak of these newer Kirby games... they sound really interesting.
But nope. If I want some Kirby-ness I'm stuck with the NES version. At least I getta have phun playing with that I suppose. Kinda gets tired after a while though. I think I have some Kirby Pinball game or something for GB though... I oughta find that... -sigh- curse me and my not-having-a-real-job-ness...

I only played recently Crystal Shards, and that was a while ago. I remember liking that game a lot for some reason. I played a few of the Gameboy ones, at my friends house, don't remember if I liked them though
I heard the DS one is awesome though, I would check it out, but I have no DS.

Hmm... I feel so stupid having only played Crystal Shards...
It was a good game though, if not a little short. The crystals were hard to find at times, especially without a guide. On the other hand, it was insanely entertaining to have so many options to choose from when it came to special moves. You’ve got your flaming blade, the beam saber, the drill, volcano, the ice skating one, that one with the dynamite that blows everything up, the fireworks, homing missiles... Very entertaining. The cut scenes were also good, and the bosses were fun to fight, especially the last three (the robot, miraclematter, and that giant winged eyeball).
I would get more of the recent games, but I don’t have a DS. Not that I couldn’t afford one, but I’m cheap. o.o

I own the NES Version, and I know someone who has Nightmare in Dream Land.
But as to what Pitch said...
You're absolutely right right. However, there were only two three areas that were exceptions(Power kept after taking a few hits)
1: Battle vs. Meta Knight (Sword) 2: Battle vs. Nightmare[sphere form] Star Rod 3: Battle vs. Nightmare[True Form] Star Rod (Well, they're all bosses, so I'm not surprised, and the power is provided for you, sooo..)
As to what PharaohManXe54 stated...
That was featured in the Crystal Shards for the 64. You lost your power after 3 hits.
Now for mltmlt22's statement...
Try mixing the bomb with cutter.. exploding ninja stars!! Oh, and with the dynamite... press down to don a hard hat! lol
Here's another of my favorites: Ice+Spark= Fridge!! Spawn tasty snacks, and eat them to restore your health... Very Cool!

Ah, I loved those. Yes, it was a very fun game. They need to make a sequel.

Yeah, I loved Crystal Shards! My favorite move would have to be the ninja bombs. They were so fast and stunned the enemies. The lightbulb was good too. Has anyone played Kirby's Dream Land 3? I recently got the ROM and I'm sorry I missed this one! Kirby has multiple animal helpers (even more than Kirby's Dream Land 2) with nice variations on each copy ability. THEY EVEN HAD BROOM POWER!!! And the graphics RULE!!! They're breathtaking. Did you beat level 3 of Paint Panic, Aaron D??

Ridley's not real, though. He's just a robot. That's a secret from Metroid Prime 3.
