Seriously, Castlevania is one of the oldest and greatest gaming franchises ever. Just wanted to know what all of you're opinions about it are. I'm currently playing Lament of Innocence which totally ROCKS. I love Castlevania.... *sigh*....

I can't belive nobody's responded to this, Castlevania SOTN was one of the greatest games ever. Sure at twenty hours it was a little short, expecially when sombody like me can beat it in five, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a symbol that somebody in the gaming industry can do something right. They should make another game like that, just one big fluid castle, non-linear (but not screwed up non linear like in FFX-2) and the good old, walk into a scary castle or haunted house or something of the like, ALONE, and by the time you're finished they're shuddering at the very shound of your name. *sigh*

They kind of did. Aria of Sorrow and most of the other GBA games are kind of like that.
My favorite one was Castlevania III, which I got for Christmas when I was in sixth or seventh grade. That had the best graphics, sounds, and quest (including branchable storylines (sort of)) of the NES ones. I haven't really played any Castlevanias since Symphony of the Night, to be honest.

All the GBA ones RULE.... except Harmony of Dissonence.... cause I can't find it . But YAY, SOMEONE WHO APPRECIATES CASTLEVANIS III! That was my first Castlevania game. That game freaked me out! But then again, I was 5 years old when I played it.... but it still scares me now, regardless . But I did like that "Choose your path" thing and the cool alternate characters. It ruled. And I can't wait for Castlevania DS. Aria of Sorrow as by far the greatest side scroller in the history of video games. I still have to get SOTN. Do you think I'd like it?

Sure. Aria of Sorrow was in very great part based on it. It's an incredible game, although the voice acting is at times laughable, the visuals are good (for PSX) and the music is very well done. There're also multiple endings depending on how much you can complete.

Yeah, I really like Lament of Innocence. I really don't think it deserved a mature rating, though. I dunno, I'm not that far into it, but the worst thing I've seen so far are zombies puking @_@. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the controls, though, and all the things you can do with the whip and all the special abilities you can have. I don't think a lot of people have gotten it, because it should've been more popular than I saw. Well, anyone here, liking Legends, could appreciate this style of action/platformer.

Ya know, I meant to reply to this thread a while ago...
Anyway, yeah I'm one of the unfortunate ones who have yet to play a Castlevania game. I'll probably be trying the GBA ones soon *moves Castlevania games to top of Gamefly list* , but I still have yet to play any. Can anyone reccomend the best GBA game for me?

Aria of Sorrow. But if you want something that lasts a little longer, get Circle of the Moon. They're both really good. But don't get either unless you have a GBA SP or a DS (which you do) because the graphics whon't show up without the proper back lighting.

Simon's Quest was kind of like Metroid, and it was also kind of like Symphony of the Night, in the respect that you had to return to areas and search for new stuff.

UR Crazy, your new initials. I've never played C3 but I have a negative impression of it. Don't ask why. Unless you want to, and in that case, I can just say you asked for it and ramble on , but otherwise I liked SOTN the best, all hands down, YOU TOO DR. TWILLIQUER! It's a long story. Alucard can turn into a Bat, a Wolf, a Cloud, and eventually a Poision Cloud. AND he starts out as a Prince of Dark Philosophy. In C3 you can get a better whip, some better armour, too bad you can't get a better hair cut ;D. Just Kidding. As for going back and looking through the levels, when you can fly that changes everything, and I don't know about the other game but in the SNES metroid and GC Prime it was okay, but in GC Echos, after it happened for the thrid time yeah fing right. Was is C2 that you could end up with different people? Did it even bother explaining how that worked out?

Castlevania 3 had the different people. There was that one monkey man, that one wizzard lady (I guess she'd be a sorceress then) and Alucard. They RULED.....
Wait, Simon's Quest, AKA Castlevania II, was like SOTN where you had to explore one huge castle!??!?

Well I played Circle of the Moon. Got it from Gamefly before I went outta town. Game seemed very Metroid-ish to me... or maybe Metroid is Castlevania-ish...? Either way, I got completely lost a bunch of times. I didn't even get half way through the game. I sent it back, though, because I think it seems better suited for buying than it does for renting... so yeah, probably going to pick that up if I can find it, as soon as I can. ^^ I really like the DSS System in the game. That's pretty friggen neat. I spent a real long time trying to get some of the cards - after looking at a map for all their locations... but yeah, really cool. And the graphics pwn. Sooooo cool... I gotta learn to sprite like that. -runs off-

I have the first Castlevania on GBA and I made it to Level 7 or something like that before I couldn't make it any further. No, it wasn't the difficulty, it's because I'm at the stage that was parodied by VGDC and had no motive to make it further! XD
