Has anyone played this game? It's great! My opinions:
Coolest male character: Cliff
Coolest college-aged character: Fayt
Hottest character: Nel (even though I don't like girls yet. Surprised?)
Most awesome move: Hammer of might (Cliff)
Also, in the director's cut version (which I got), there's a special 2-player versus mode.

Coolest College-aged character: Maria>Fayt in a ridiculous amount of ways Hottest Character: NO ******* WAY. Nel's hot, but Maria's hotter. Way hotter. Most awesome move:........you haven't gone very far, have you? Maria's Energy Burst is the best move in the entire game. It's so good it's almost cheap-ass. .......yes, as you can tell, i'm a Maria fanboy. <_< But she IS the best.

Shadow Wave should be one of your better moves right now, assuming where you are. Hammer of Might is good for your level, too.
In the first disc, the best moves you're gonna get are Fayt's Side Kick and Shotgun Blast, Cliff's Hammer of Might and Aerial Assult, Nel's Shadow Wave and Flying Guillotine, Maria's Aiming Device, Adray flat out sucks, and most of Albels's moves.

Albel= most annoying swordsman/former enemy in RPG history who's actually cool.
Also, Maria is a pretty good character. I LOVE long-range, but her defense STINKS when you first get her.

Albel's kay.
I liked his character because he's pretty messed up, and he knows it, and admits that every misfortune that befalls him is entirely his fault. He's also a great character. My final party is Fayt, Maria and Albel.

What's so bad about Adray? I haven't gotten him yet, so tell me what to be scared of. Also, the name of the enemy is funny. Vendeeni. *suppresses laughter*

Reeeel slow attacks, Sophia gets most magic before him, and he attacks people with his SWORD IN IT'S SHEATH. >_< And he has like, 2 lines in the whole game. One good thing about him is that he gets Southern Cross early.

The look in Nel's eyes on her avatar... it reminds of Sera. I now declare myself a Nel and Sera fanboy! What is your favorite magic?

Hmm... Although I have never actually finished the game, I’m a good way into it, so I have a good idea of what I think. Or should think. Something along those lines.
Some spoilers for anyone who hasn’t gotten to about mid-second disk.
It was a good game overall, and I must admit that I laughed when the concept of 4D beings came up. 3D characters discussing how dangerous 4D characters are... Almost like a 2D character in an older game talking about how he’s going to be out of work once 3D games come out. It’s funny, darn it. And I had to laugh again when I found out that they were nothing more then programs that came to life and were being controlled by the 4D guys, since I once had an idea for a story based around an almost identical idea.
The graphics also impressed me. The cinematics were some of the best I’ve seen, and I loved how they made the bigger instances of symbology look, what with the letters flying everywhere. The battle voices were annoying, but you could turn them off.
The battles were also conducted well, and I especially loved that it paused the game as you looked for what item or power to use, unlike games like Kingdom hearts, where you had to keep pace with the enemy attacks as well as decide which spell or item to use on who. Greatly simplified things. Also, the number of combos you could pull of was key. You could fly them into the air, smash them back into the ground, then land and perform another attack just as they get up. Then there were the cancel bonuses, which were an incredible boon in harder battles. Mostly, it was a simple battle system that gave you plenty of room to grind enemies into dust without even giving them a chance to attack. Cheap, yes, but I’m a cheap guy.
If I were to have any criticism, which I do, the first would be the character design. The anime look was nice, but they went a little too far making the eyes as large as they did. They ceased to be a cute, colorful feature of one’s face and just became scary. This problem was most prominent on the female characters, Sophia in particular, while male characters such as Cliff and Fayt seem to have dodged such a butchering. Don’t get me wrong; they were still good characters. I just have something against really huge eyes. Call me prejudice if you like, but as soon as I see a character with huge eyes, I think either ‘whiny’ or ‘overly feminine/childish’. Another thing would have to be the slew of cutscenes they flood you with every once in a while. As soon as you arrive at or leave a planet for the first time, every other area is a cutscene. I being, among other things, one of those stubborn purists who refuses to skip cutscenes, had to sit though them all, and they were some of the most long-winded wastes of time ever. A cutscene once in a while gives you the feel of something special happening. They totally overused it. I’m all for story progression, but it seemed as though all I was doing was walking my character a few paces down into the next cutscene, as if the makers of the game were trying to make the game seem playable when in reality it was just a long series of cutscenes. This was mostly on the first two planets you visit, and it thankfully got much better, even if it turned me away from the game at first. Then there was the invention feature. To wit, it was complicated and expensive. They also promised me riches, yet I’ve not seen any income from all the junk/stuff/junk stuff I’ve patented.
But those were mostly details. Annoying perhaps, but they failed to take much away from such a good game.
As to Adray, he is in no way in inferior character. He starts out fairly strong, and although he might as well be nailed to the ground as far as speed goes, whatever attacks he did launch were good, and he makes an excellent healer. Yes, a healer. Unlike Nel, who continually tries to balance attacking and supporting, you can specifically command Adray to stand by and focus on healing the party. Very useful when he needs to be.
Now, I suppose I should keep in uniform and answer them questions up in the first post...
Favorite Female character: Can’t say I have one. If I had to choose, I guess it would be Nel, since she has the whole ninja thing going on. Besides having great attacks, she’s fast and has a good voice actor. Shame she always seems to be the first one out of the three fighters to die.
Favorite College-aged character: I dislike Fayt. He is far too emotional, and, as I’m sure you know, emotions are for losers. The same goes for Maria, although to a lesser degree. Now, Albel was someone worthy of holding this title. I’m not even sure if he is college aged though. How old is he anyway?
Never mind, it doesn’t matter. If he’s too old for college, we can just say he could still be in college anyway, since he would probably have disregarded the work to go do something dark and solitary. That’s my boy! Despite the odd looks (The pigtails wrapped in the cloth was a good touch to his appearance, but I can’t see anyone in his situation growing his hair our that long. It’s impractical for what he does. And who in the middle ages goes and bleaches the ends of his hair? Not to mention the clothes. That tight suit that only covers his chest looks more like a bathing suit then anything. Besides not providing very good armor, a medieval swordsman fighting in a bathing suit is not the first image that comes to mind when I think of the best swordsman in the world. But I digress.), his character is harsh and amazingly well spoken. He holds himself with a suborn elegance, as though he knows everyone around him is doing whatever they happen to be doing incorrectly, yet refuses to tell them what it is they are doing incorrectly. And he kept calling everyone a maggot. Not to mention that cool nickname, Albel the Wicked, as well as the fact that he’s a great fighter. From the first time I saw him, I hoped he would be on my team. I could have danced when I found out he actually WOULD be on my team. Yes, he is most certainly my favorite character of indeterminate age.
Hottest Character: Hottest character? Pfft. Well, none to mention here either, but if I needed to choose... probably that girl that plays the witch enemies that hang out in Aquarius mid-first disk. Or perhaps it was just the getup I liked. The hat, the broom, and little figurine black cat that she puts at the end of the broom... It was so totally stereotype witch that I can’t help but love it.
And the girl herself was nice too, I guess. But man, look at that broom...
Favorite Move: Fayt’s Air Raid. It fits into my knock-them-to-the-ground-and-slap-them-silly strategy perfectly. Yup, I have a strategy. Sort of. The attacks I use are not incredible attacks like the ones you people mention, but it’s the basicness of the attacks that I like. For example, since the beginning of the game, I’ve only played with Fayt, and I’ve always used the same attacks: Arial and Blade of fury, with Critical Hit taking up the remaining two slots. Although they are terribly early-game moves, I’ve found that they work unbelievably well together. On bosses and larger enemies that don’t get knocked down by Arial, I can keep alternating Arial and Blade of fury to get cancel bonuses that add up to thousands upon thousands of extra damage. Toss in Berserk to conserve fury, and it’s a tough combo to beat. My battling three is usually Fayt, Cliff, and Nel. Once again, a primitive set, but I’m used to them. They work great together, but then again, I seldom try any different strategy, so I wouldn’t know. But it got me this far without a hinge, so I must be doing something right. I’ve only recently added in Air Raid, and it is perfect for knocking people off their feet at a long range. Unbelievable.
Anyway, I’m surprised that so few people posted here. I truly did think that this would be a very popular game, seeing as the company that made it is so well-known, but I guess I was mistaken.
Aw well. Perhaps I’ll be back here to post an opinion about the ending once I get there...

Hmm. I never noticed this was here. I would have replied earlier. Yeah, I spent about 100 hours in the easy mode of that game, and need to spend 100 more in hard mode and finishing the two after story parts. Those glowing white balls in the maze and the alternate Fayt and Sophia are so hard! Favorite Male Character: Albel's cool. It's REALLY bad though that faces are fixed here. He looks great grinning in his portrait, but can't grin with his 3D model. Coolest College-Aged Character: Meh, they were all kind of whiny and cynical. I'd say Fayt Lineguard because it's fun to pretend his name is Fayt Lineguard. ;D Hottest: Nel was really attractive, although I'm going with Clair Lasgard, Adray's daughter. I like the purple eyes and silver hair. Most awesome move: I didn't really get that many..., but I'd probably say something like the... hrmmm... I can't remember names now, but they're pretty basic ones with Fayt. One where you somersault and send the guy flying into the air. That was fun. Cliff's Hammer of Might is also good. Magic I couldn't really get into, because yeah, Nel kept dying. And most of the new characters started out to weak for me to train up in 100 hours. The 3D graphics in that game were great, especially in character models. The worst problem was that everyone had a fixed facial expression. For instance, it looked really odd whenever Cliff smiled, and Albel can't grin because his face is stuck in a small mouthed frown. Also, here's Sophia's characteristic modeling problem: Fayt: Sophia, you're a geneticly altered weapon used to travel through dimensions and your father never told you about it! Sophia: *smile* Oh, that's horrible.

I love that game...though, it's extremely long. I was already to about 40 hours of gameplay before I got to the second disc. I liked the plot twist xP
