Err....
well as I understand it, the X Series was supposed to end at 5. Why it continued beyond 5 is confusing to me, considering how sucky 5 was, in my opinion. But either way Capcom went and decided to milk it a little more, and as a result we have X6-8 + Command Mission. Now I understand the situation and all, but I think Capcom should've dropped the X Series and focussed on what was really important: LEGENDS!!! Of course that's just the biased opinion of a DASH fanboy.
As far as sucky X games go though, I didn't enjoy anything from 4 on. 4 was okay, but it's WAAAAAAAAAAAY too easy. And the anime scenes are cool but as per the usual - horridly VA'ed. X5 in my opinion just didn't feel right. It played like any other game, but again, way too easy, and kinda random. The Enigma thingy may or may not work, regardless of whether or not you collect all the parts... And multiple endings?? Bad idea in my opinion.... I mean if they were multiple parts of the same ending then maybe, but some contradict others if I recall correctly. And X6 from what I've played so far sucks. It just does. It's boring...
The only recent X Games that I've heard good things about are X8 and Command Mission. Me being without a system capable of playing either, I can't say anything, except that I think Capcom is wasting their effort on a should-be done with series and should focus on the stuff that still has somewhere to go without become utterly redundant and the same stupid storyline... -_-

Basically, at this point, X is a money-making machine, but you could say that about any Mega Man game. The story was originally kind of good in the first game, then it started getting ludricrous aroound #3, then really insane after 5, then to the point that they're barely even trying anymore. Plus, the whole thing is about killing Reploids who value free will over servitude to humans (Mavericks). That's kind of morbid.

The X series is okay. Just stay away from X5-X7 and you'll be fine.

STFU, n00b. And I honestly don't care if you're a n00b or not. You hate on ANY Megaman game, I'll hate on you. And that's the honest truth. And now I'm flaming. Honestly, Command Mission was pretty sweet, if you like RPG's. Although why did Spider have to die?

My goodness, there are certainly some sour notes running loose in the forums today! ; I don't see anything wrong with this topic, or at least I didn't. As long as people don't take it too seriously, it shouldn't get out of hand. Look at it this way: Someone starts a thread that says how great the X series is. Those who agree come in and agree, and those who disagree come in and disagree. There's back and forth discussion of it and opinions are exchanged, just like 90% of the threads in these forums. The only difference is that this one was started with a negative post on the series instead of a positive one, but in the end, the flow of conversation doesn't change. So, everyone who needs to chill, just chill! And please don't play mod, Roll.exe. As for my opinion, I'm in agreement that the X series started out fantastically. The SNES ones were superb, particularly the first two, and X4 (though not my favorite) was a zenith for the series, IMHO. With the improved graphics, Anime cut scenes, more developed story, interesting characters, and the ability to play as Zero as well as X, it just ruled! (ignore the bad voices) X5 to me, was such a cheap, easy, complicated mess of a story and game to follow up X4 with, that I have not touched the X series since...

I kind of thought that X4 was a little over-the-top, not to mention the fact that the game was made during the PSX era of "Since it CAN have full motion video, it therefore MUST have it!" X5 was kind of a letdown in some ways after that, but in some ways, the actual gameplay was a tad better. Haven't played 6, 7, or 8, except for the demo of 8.

Well, the X series is just a game series. There's no need to bash it. It's not over hyped in the least, I think. It's just a Megaman series for a more hardcore audience cause the games are so freaking hard! That's why I don't like them! I'm bad at platformers taht require a high level of skill! Sure, the first 4 were EFFING AMAZING (especially 4. LOVED the cutscenes). But 6... it just seemed like it pushed it too far with the levels being IMPOSSIBLE to beat without going through it 10 times. That's just my opinion and I think that people shouldn't totally rip on a game series because people like it a lot.... unless it's Halo.... GOD, DO I HATE HALO... but that's a different story. So, to recap, I believe there is no need to bash the X series cause it's made for a different type of person than that of the people who would GENERALLY play Legends. Some people like both (like BRG) and that's fine too. So, that's my rant...

Errr, Common kobun40... Why make a "Lets bash th x Series" thread? I mean really, this is kindergarden stuff... "When you don't have anythign nice to say, don't say anything at all" The least you could have done is make a thread saying "Do you like the x sersise or not" and in your post explaining why or why you don't. In your case it woudl be why you don't but who cares...
A for me, I havn't played the x serise... So I woudln't know...
Well I might have 0.o who knows I forget...

The rest made me laugh, once I got to thinking about them.

The X series wasn't really my style, and certain characters are just extremely cardboard and bug the crap out of me, but to be positive, characters I DO like from the X series (played 1-6): Iris - To copy and paste from another topic, "I actually liked Iris... Not because she was an interesting character or anything, but because random girlfriends with horrible accents just crack me up. Iris, you can pop back up from the dead any old time you want, because the only thing funnier than a random girlfriend is a random zombie robot girlfriend back from the dead to seek revenge on her former lover for brutally slaying her brother AND her." Alia - For some reason, I always got the impression that ALIA WAS SHOUTING AT YOU ALL THE TIME. I MEAN, HER LITTLE CHARACTER ICON HAD HER MOUTH WIDE OPEN, AND SHE LOOKED SO CONCERNED, ALWAYS CLUTCHING THAT EARPIECE SO TIGHTLY IN HER HAND LIKE DANGER, DANGER, WILL ROBINSON! And she thought it was necessary to interrupt you in mid-jump to tell you OMG PRESS THIS BUTTON AND YOU CAN JUMP FROM WALL TO WALL JUST LIKE A TREE FROG BUT WATCH THAT YOU DON'T GET SMASHED, X AND/OR ZERO! Also, OMG CONSPIRACY THEORY! YOU CAN'T DENY IT! (Okay, maybe you can.) And... Did Alia grow her hair out between X5 and X8?! ALIA! GOTTA KEEP ME UPDATED! GEEZ! ...Or maybe that's a bun? My world just got turned upside down. I seriously never noticed that before. Dynamo - ♥! ...I don't really know why I like Dynamo. He's a bit cliché, but has enough originality that I like him. Stylish costume, attitude issues... DYNAMO IS COOL, YO.

Alia did grow out her hair in X8, actually most characters got makeovers in that game.
