Ever since I heard Dr. Wily's robot/that dark Navi's name I pronounced it "Bass" as in the fish. But when I watched MegaMan NT Warrior his name was pronounced "Base" as in the musical instrument. Does anyone know the real way to say Bass's name?

It's Bass as in the musical notation or the instrument. All of the names in the original Megaman are musical. In Japan, he's Rockman, like the musical genre. Protoman is Blues, Roll, like Rock and Roll, Rush, etc. Bass is just the AMerican form of Forte. In music, Bass is anything below middle C, and Treble, his dog, is anything above that. Take that into your own interpretation.

It has a long A sound. So yes, it is pronounced "Base". Why the hell else would his counterpart dog be named Treble?
There are a lotta stupid arguements that his name is pronounced like Bass the fish out there - like people will say, "OH, but in Mega Man 8, Mega Man call's him BASS like the FISH. And his helmet has FINS!! YEAH!"
MegaMan 8 was horribly VA'ed, and the ridges are just part of his design.
If all else fails, stick to Forte and Gospel. ;D
I find this hysterical. A while back, on another forum, there was some so-called "true" MegaMan fan who was furious about Wily pronouncing as "Base" like he should pronounce it, saying that it wasn't right... XD man there's some real morons out there.

I guess Keiji Inafune really likes music. By the way, What Blues suppose to be? Is it suppose to be American for Bruce? And Treble is renamed Gospel in Battle Network 2 I think.

Directly reading BLUES' name you would have: "Bu Ru Su" I believe. This is because there is no "L" in Japanese - as far as I know. His name is BLUES. It is not Bruce. Blues is a type of music, if that's what you mean. Treble's Japanese name is Gospel. However in MMBN2, it would've meant changing Gospel's Logo to a T for it to make sense calling him Treble. So he was left as he is. Inafune DOES like music. He named most of the main Rockman character's after musical terms.

Of course there's no L in Japanese... They use Japanese characters! But in all seriousness, the L and R sounds (as far as Romaji goes) are interchangable. Meaning, if a Japanese person is trying to convert 'road' and 'load' into Japanese syllables, it's going to sound exactly the same. No distinction in Japanese, big distinction in English, which is why translators just have to guess the best interpretation in such cases. And in that way, I'm glad Blues was renamed Protoman... Just because of the possibility that it might have been translated 'Bruce.' I hadn't thought of that before now. How horrifying!

ROFL!*recovers* Uh yeah, death to throw rotten tomatoes at the idiots who think he's a fish! Okay, so I don't give a hoot what you call the supremely-powerful, overly-popular, rag-wrapped navi, but the classic Bass rules!

I hope this doesn't happen to NXC.

ProtoMan's name is a problem in Battle Network because he is not the first navi created, I think Alpha from 3 is.

ProtoMan's name is a problem in Battle Network because he is not the first navi created, I think Alpha from 3 is. Alpha's not a Navi. And Protoman could very well be the Prototype navi from Chaud's father's company for all we care. He doesn't exactly NEED to be the first navi navi.
