This is for those of you who enjoy first-person shooters. Me, I mostly like WWII-themed shooters.

Well, Wolfenstien is not on there, so I'm not voting! So nyah!
It's the only first person shooter I ever had (computer). And I think I had a demo version, too. Anyways, it was the only one I really played. I never played any other first person shooter, except Doom. My friend had it, and I played it there sometimes. But that's all I've ever played.

I've played the old Wolfenstein 3D games, and I've also played Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the PC, and RTCW for the PS2. I still prefer Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Medal of Honor Frontline, Medal of Honor Rising Sun, and Call of Duty.

Yeah, my favorite isn't on there either, but that's because it's so old. My favorite FPS is Perfect Dark. I don't play very many (in fact, I don't think I've played ANY since then), but still... It's such a great game, especially for its time.

My most favorite isn't on there (Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold), but I voted for my #2 FPS game... Half-Life.

Beat me senseless for this one then:
Most of these are just current day shooters. How many of you remember the old stuff with magical pixel tables and stuff in these (cheap-looking nowadays) blocky, three-dee mazes with textures splashed everywhere that would somehow always look the same no matter how much you blindly ran around them?
I mean, no Duke Nukem? The original Dooms? Wolfenstein 3-D? Rise of the Triad?
Okay, I'm old-school. Those thar newfangled free-dee videeyoo games are beyond me. Because of time constrants.
I want magical paradox tables right now, please, yes sir, yep.

I HATE first person shooters! They always lack a sendible plot, it feels like you're playing the History Channel in some cases, you feel no character attachment, and it always wants to "shock and awe" you with blood, blood, blood. What happened to emotionally involving the player with the characters? What happened to creative fairy palaces? How is boring real life able to create a good game? Maybe a good book, but not a game. There are only 3 games that are good FPS's though: my favorite, Metroid Prime, Perfect Dark, and Goldeneye. The latter 2 were only good because of the fun aspect of being in the same room (online play with FPS's cannot compare to 4 player N64) with your friends, and in my case, my brother too and shouting insults at each other, trying to psyche each other out, and beating the crap out of each other when someone killed us. I'll pass on the oh-so-popular cause most gamers nowadays are oh-so-mindless adults who want to shoot things. I hope this genre completely dies....

I wouldn't say that, first person shooters are a killing fest in some cases. but I am seeing in more and more of them, that you actually have a story in them, more now a days than before. I hope this genre slows down a bit, its to hyped right now, and for the wrong reasons. I love online FPS's though, coming up behind someone and killing them out of no where never gets old.

What about Metroid Prime? I liked that one the best.

Disagree.
Not everything has to have a plot, hence why I like FPS (and if I wanted a deeply engaging something of the sort, I'd pick up Daggerfall: The Elder Scrolls or its sequel, Morrowind - not quite FPS but it has swords and spells and freedom to do whatever you please!), especially some of these old-school ones. There are some days where I feel like engaging in my ol' thinker and others where I just want to kick back and tape down my CTRL key as I mow down herds of misshapen baddies with an arsenal of launchers and machine guns.
Anyone ever had given Serious Sam a shot? Most pointless game ever and fits the blood fest description given by Pharoah to a T but, the most IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF ANY GAME, fun. Mindlessly fun. Proof that you don't need an engaging plot to have a good time.
But, eh, hurrrr: To each his own.

007: Goldeneye. That game is classic N64 GOLD. Of course, the really shining time is in multiplayer mode, when you're little and immature enough to place mines everywhere and dare your brother to run through them, knowing he'll do it. ^_^
I'd say maybe Duke Nukem for the N64 (was it just N64) is a close second. Laser tripmines, the expander, the shrink ray, pipe bombs... and lets face it, some of those levels were AWESOME. Tons of places to waste your time hiding.
Was Turok: Rage Wars FPS? Because that was really great too. Some of those levels are the best examples of objectively designed multiplayer madness, and collecting the medals was fun.
Halo is pretty fun, by the little bit I played of it at a friends house.
