Heh. Well I know nothing about that thing you were talking about, but since you said "anything Zelda related", I'll get my post in here, and probably be done with it after that.
The only Zelda game I ever played was the first? one on the NES. Man was that phun. I spent countless hours playing that game, musta beat it a good couple dozen times. I like how at the end of the game, Zelda and Link evidently use the same pallette or something - if you had the Blue Ring, Zelda's clothes = Blue, likewise for the Red Ring. Gave me a reason to try to win without any ring, since green is my favorite color of all time. ;D I never succeeded in that though cuz I was like seven... -sigh- I miss that game. I wish my NES still worked... ah well, maybe I'll pick up the GBA version...

I've never played the old, old Zelda games, but I got started on A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. Never did finish either of those until recently, though. My first COMPLETED Zelda game that really got me hooked on the series was Ocarina of Time, still one of my favorites. You might say that's nostalgic of me (and it probably is), but I still haven't found an adventure game that has captured my heart and entertained me quite like OOT has. Unless you count Legends, which is a terribly hard game to classify... Or Majora's Mask, that freaky clone of a game (which I also enjoyed, for the record). I saw the trailer for the new game... The atmospheres were very impressive... But everything else was just kind of eh. It needs work, which I'm sure they'll have time to put lots in before the game is released. The animation was just so jerky. Link's walk cycle made me chuckle out loud. I almost wish they would have left us in the dark until it was closer to the game's release. But like I said, the environments were hot. I honestly can't wait to play in that game world, be it Hyrule or elsewhere. It just looks so AAAAH. Oh, and GustaffGlyde brought something up about the cel-shading of Wind Waker in another topic, but I didn't want to comment there because it would be kind of off-topic... Regarding the cel-shading, I wasn't too happy about it at first. My views were pretty skewed by everyone calling it kiddy looking... But I realized while playing the game that my problem actually wasn't with that, but the base art style because I didn't have a problem with the look of most objects in the game. The King of Red Lions looked amazing, and sailing around the ocean was just artistic. However, I had, and still do have, a problem with the human designs. The humans were disproportioned to an extreme I thought was just ugly rather than stylistic... Tiny stick legs holding up a bulking torso, gigantic cat eyes... And in the end, I think that those designs really don't fit the style of the rest of the game at all, and DO look rather "kiddy" and "cartoony" in comparison. Or maybe just WEIRD. I think the storybook effect could have been pulled off much more effectively some other way. But I'm full of opinions.

Zelda's awesome. I had the first NES games, then Link to the PAst, then didn't play any for like ten years, but I just started playing the Minish Cap and Oracle of Ages, and I got the Zelda Collector's Edition for GameCube, which means at some point I might actually get to play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
I also remember the Legend of Zelda Cartoon from the eighties, where Link was too busy trying to score with Zelda to actually fight off the badguys.

Legend of Zelda... Love the series and always will. I've never played the really early games for the NES, mostly because I could never find them before they came out on the GBA, and by then I had lost interest in playing them. I've played through Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and Oracle of Seasons. Definitely one of Nintendo's better ideas. I especially liked the older ones for the GB and SNES. They had a more simplistic air to then though, something I favor over the more overdramatic games of today. Truthfully though, I had a harder time with OoT then any of the other games. It seemed as if some huge undead skeletal creature was going to jump out of nowhere and strangle you at every given moment. I could never keep calm. Then, by the time I actually reached a dungeon, I was so fatigued by all of my worrying that I could no longer focus, and some huge undead skeletal creature would jump out of nowhere and strangle me. Ahh, I loved that game... I just looked up the trailers. I agree, the background looks superb, as do the enemies. Unfortunately, it still looks rough. The way Link unsheathes his sword looks far too N64-like. Gameplay looks like it will be good though. We've got giant spiders, grotesque black shadow demons, huge boar monsters, and flying eagle-like thingamabobs. All we need now is Ganon to make a final appearance and it'll be a party. The cell shading idea was quite interesting. I personally loved the style. True that the human features were completely out of proportion, but the faces were very expressive, and the characters' personalities were excellent. The environments were also some of the best I've seen. The problem with that game lies in the story. It was horrid. Tetra was the coolest character, and they cut her out so early in the game. A large chunk of the time I spent playing was devoted solely to sailing over HUGE amounts of water, and the dungeons were easer then those of past games. And another thing, the ending was the absolute worst in the history of Nintendo. Poetic, but inconclusive and depressing. I've heard that this new game coming out is supposed to act as a sequel of sorts to WW, so I hope that it will be more solid. I remember seeing something about the cartoons, although I've never actually watched them. I think Zelda Universe may have an archive. Also, since we're on the topic of Zelda Universe, check out this article. I found it entertaining. www.zeldauniverse.net/content/view/37/58/

Actually, the connectedness was another one of the things I disliked about Wind Waker. I think I might have liked it more if it had truly been its own game, but the ties to Ocarina of Time prevent it from being just that. In past games, there have definitely been universal similarities between the Zelda games, and even true sequels (Zelda 1 and 2, Ocarina and Majora's Mask, some suggest Link to the Past and Link's Awakening), but linking Ocarina of Time to Wind Waker, two games SO different both stylistically and in regards to gameplay (as was mentioned, with so much of it taking place on the water and between worlds much more disconnected than usual for a Zelda game) was just a bad idea and something that really irks me about both games. It kind of taints my OOT experience. Oh hey, anyone have any opinion on the Four Swords game(s)? I personally have never even touched them. Multiplayer games never have any appeal to me because I'm the only person in my household and in my group of friends who actually plays video games with any sort of seriousness.

Ah, I also enjoyed the cell shading, mltmlt22. I know that lots of fanboys got worked up about it,but I think it was well worked out. I had never seen a game like that before! Explosions, water, charactars - EVERYTHING JUST LOOKED BEAUTIFUL!! Now, The next console game looks creepy....if you watch the second trailer than you'll notice tons of ghosts just appear! That freaked me out! Sure, Nintedo doesn't usually freak me out,but when the ghosts are THAT detailed.....*shiver*....I'm scared soemthing might grab my ankle when I'm standing by my bed! I have heard about a Zelda cartoon, but that was before my time...or either I can't remember it.Back when I was little I watched all sorta of 80's movies and shows.... waynes world, waynes world - party time, party time..I heard good things about the cartoon,nonetheless.

I would love to try four swords, but I don't have anyone to play it with. Gotta hate those games. If there was some way I could have had the full experience of the game without getting 2-4 people together, believe me, I would.
The connectedness... I never even consider stuff like that most of the time. True though, it is an important factor. Knowing that the world was drowned after you spent hours on OoT saving it is a real downer. Usually I enjoy that kind of interconnectedness, but WW's story sort of compromised OoT's story. ;_;
Ahh, the explosions in WW were truly the kings of all 3D explosions. The smoke with all of its curls and shadows was definitely a huge add-on to it's already impressive graphic style. Kind of reminded me of Naruto actually. Now why couldn't explosions in real life be as pretty as that?

mltmlt22--Four Swords Adventures can be played with only one person and a GCN controller. The version packed with the GBA "Link to the Past" is another story.
I for one HATED the cel-shading in Wind Waker. I've always hated it, and always will hate it. It just isn't...Zelda. To me, that boy with the big head and the funny eyes just doesn't seem like Link...he's just a boy who happens to have the same name as Link...a complete and total stranger. The game was good, but it gave an entirely different impression from what I'm used to in a Zelda game--like the feelings I got playing A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Link's Awakening, etc. I don't like how they're using the Wind Waker style on Four Swords Adventures, because that (those?) Link(s?) did seem like the traditional Link. I haven't played the Minish Cap yet, so I shouldn't judge the art style so soon.
Personally, I'm from the PS/N64 generation, so naturally I like OOT and MM better than all of the others, mostly because they're what I started out with. Gamers naturally tend to do that, if you know what I mean.
