You wanna hear my thoughts on this? You're starting too ambitiously. Here's some food for thought: Make a 2D remake of Megaman Legends. You have everything you need, except for the sprites. Give it level-by-level gameplay. Heck, you could even use Devilock's models and make MMPU type game. I think that it could have some potential, and will help show that you can get something accomplished. There's my two cents.

Here's what i was imagining: I also had like the same idea, but mine was not named MegaMan Legends Expansion: Battle Grounds, it was MMLEx Battle Network. It Sucks, definitely, but that was just a name god dang it. @jmc I recently found out the Valve Hammer Editor Maps can be exported into 3d's max editable format, and from there exported into Milkshape. I I can get Max 3D, I'll create The entire domain world from MML1 in 48 hours. If that will be possible. Yes JMC, we need resources. That can be found very easily bo broing the net. I've noticed we do have a lot of potential people who are capable to help us. I saw petey posted a banging picture at deviantart.com from tiesel. Man I was blown away. If we just got more team members, we would bang hard and fullfill your idea that we talked over MSN. Three something... I found a 3D Designer from Wales, but he said he'll join at July. He's quite busy. I think he's goin' in summer school . Just kiddin' I'm still trying to contact with Megaman Dinga. Apparently our time zoneas do not match and when i'm available on the net which is 30 minutes tops, he's probably at work or something. PM's would be slow communication. I am really serious about this entire thing. You've had people come and Go. I'm not bailing this. Megaman Legends keeps me going in a way so i want to expand that horizon as much as possible. I have so much new ideas banging in my head. I don't know where to start from. I Just need a texture artist and a concept artist. Avery possible idea would come in handy. New Door styles, lights, reaverbots, anything. I found one concept artist, Teisel & The Servbot #14, but he got lost somewhere. He said he had some kewl sketches and all. I so liked to see them, but he bailed somewhere. From my last update i made some new stuff, but the problem is that i lost my only portable device, my MP3 Player, and now I can't transfer anything from my home to the internet caffee, and upload it to you guys. That's all from me for now...

First of all, I will never ever do anything 2D. Thats twice as much work for someone like me.
Devillock, if you can make all of that, that would be amazing. The Engine is going well, so we should have models in soon. Its really taken off. Momentum is slowly building despite the negative response. We need as much help as we can get, and one of my weaknesses is getting staff. I'm working on it, but I'm just not particularly good at it.

Hold on...how is that twice as much work?

All of my work has been in 3D, I don't like working in 2D, and the engine is designed to work in 3D.
Its personal preference and previous experience that drives me to do 3D things. And if it were to be 2D, I would be giving up. That would be the end of my involvement with MMLEx. Without 3D, MMLEx is nothing but a crappy fangame. Its gameplay is mediocre, its sound is very poor, it doesn't have a great system for controls, and without the 3Dness of it, it loses everything it had. I'm working on the gameplay, sound, and controls, but I will not give up the one thing it is known for.
If a group of sprite artists want to start a separate 2D MML type game, they can. Nothing against 2D games, but I will not develop a 2D game for MMLEx. MMLEx's defining feature is its 3D.

I would help you, but i don't know wich field i am good for. As for now, my curriculum includes: -Spriter - 5 years (Even in 3D games, the menu MUST have sprites of some sort, right?) -Vector artist for 3 years ( quick sample) -Voice actor - 4 years -Texture artist - 1 year And others non important for the project thingies like flash maker for seven years and stuff.

Do you have any samples of your experience of being a texture artist? I'm most interested in that. Voices and stuff can be important too, but I'm not too worried about that.
And yeah, even 3D games need some sprites. Less so than 2D games but it is important. Buster shots, decals, and even explosions can be sprites.

Penis?
Anyways, you never answered me about if I should start making some concept tracks for this thing.
(And turn your phone back on, ya douche xD)

at the moment I'm not sure if you should start making concept tracks. I'm not sure how far this will go. Its very touch and go making the engine right now, and a single problem could spell disaster. Try calling me right away. I'll put my phone on the charger, its battery died.

I'm afraid people aren't being open-minded about this, which is expected. MMLEx was much more than we could do at the time of development, but it seems much more plausible at this point. But we still don't have the assets to work with - for example, We can use much more generic models in this game that we could in MMLEx, and in MMLEx we had to have accurate models. And thats not counting the large amounts of programming needed.
Now, everyone probably has low expectations from the original heck(sounds wrong because it was censored to that) we've created with MMLEx... I personally apologize because its obviously not possible to start a huge project from a small fan base, I didn't have the programming skills at the time, and the only reason i co-founded it was because at the time i was a n00b. Though I was surprised by the hugely talented contributers, even in such a small community, it wasn't enough to push through a full scale game project, and now it is much more imminent to us that its just not going to happen.
To those who have contributed there talents to MMLEx, we apologize to you. Your work is most likely not even available from us at this point due to changes in hardware many times and the original hard drive that held MMLEx is officially dead and gone... I could go into my old hard drive, since its only just recently been formatted and not much data has been written, but i figure the original MMLEx is a lost cause anyways.
Motivation was another huge problem on my end. I wasn't getting much results trying to solve my problems. When it comes to professional developers, they are normally fueled by money. However, MMLEx was fueled by having fun. Getting what i wanted on the screen was definitely the best feeling to me.
Right now, this project seems plausible with some time. We only need so much media, and we can use temporary solutions until we get the media. Plus, we only have so much programming to do - Recently, i have been introduced to my favorite programming language at this point (C# in case anyone actually cares) and I'm far more productive with it than anything I've ever used.
As for the zenny concept, it seems completely logical to me that you win zenny, but I'll also go with the concept of zenny during a match. Both sound OK because as far as i know this game isn't going to be filled with long range kills, even though other enemies could easily get the zenny.
So yeah, I do expect that no-one will like this project. But what if we started this instead of MMLEx? You probably would have been more or less the same about it as MMLEx. And at that, it might have worked even - considering one of the absolute hugest problems in our game engine was cinematics.
And just to let you know - this game will not be like any normal FPS - in fact, considering its not in First Person, it won't be an FPS. We will have some different aspects in this game, even if we do have some similar aspects (We might even pick ones that are fun but put the theme of the game in an awkward position.)
So yeah, to sum it up, we over-estimated our expectations by billions of percent when we started MMLEx - You might just agree that this is a step in the right direction since we are taking out some major set-backs by targeting this type of game. And lets face it - You would probably like this if it was good anyways - being an FPS player or not.

I don't know...it's a pretty big change from what it was before. I'll play it anyway, in any case. Good to hear that's it's not an FPS, though.
