Yeah, I've been out for a pretty good while. Life's been tearing me a new one for the last few months now. I'm surprised I made it through much of it alive, but anyway, on to my point. I'm doing a final project in my Scriptwriting and Storytelling class, and the project involves designing a concept and story for a game I came up with. Part of the assignment is knowing whether or not the concept would win over any sort of audience. Here is my concept statement for the game:
Concept Statement
"In Cross and Burn, you control NOATS (National Operations and Assistance Task Systems) Secret Agent Thomas Cross, who wants to permanently lock away his jealous, vengeance-ridden brother, Burn. As his jealousy boils, Burn starts working for the Robotica agency designing ten-ton mech killing machines to finally erase his brother’s existence for good. Through FPS-style action, Side-Scrollers, and Driving sequences, Cross fights against Burn’s army of guard robots, giant monolithic mech machines, and deranged lackeys while using his own arsenal of agency-approved gadgets, post-modern weaponry, and cunning to bring his brother to inevitable justice.
As Cross explores Burn’s territory through each of the three game play elements, you will discover more embedded themes that make each level inventive and unique in their own specialized ways. Combining slick James Bond-like action from Cross’ perspective and battling Burn’s overwhelming ability to intimidate you with towering mechs and legions of guard sentinels, spy thriller fans looking for something more over-the-top than your usual spy adventure will surely dive into Cross’ adventure."
The philosophy of the concept...
"In a sense of brother versus brother, how would the player react when battling against his evil twin that’s fueled from jealousy? Is the player willing to all-out kill him simply because he’s evil, or will the player simply capture the antagonist because of their blood relation?"
My question to you is, would you at least be willing to try the game? Even if you were to plunk $50 into it, would you still be willing to try it? Let me know your input on it. Again, it would greatly be appreciated...
