Has anyone here been very lucky? I found out while doing a research project (And some question asking to my parents) that I am very lucky.
My story is that when I was born (Which was a high risk birth to begin with) I was born with a birth defect Hypothyroidism. Its easily treatable with a lifelong medication which I take now. The defect itself is not uncommon, so I didn't think that I was that lucky, though there was a mistake. My parents noticed when I was around 3 weeks old that I was not normal. they still missed what I had giving me a test for Hyperthyroidism which is different than what I had. They said I didn't have it, so they said I would be better in a few days. A week later, my mom who listens to no one, took me to Henry Ford Hospital, and they found that I had Hypothyroidism, and saved my life, a few days before I would of been mentally retarded and died in 13 years. I would be dead by now if not for my moms stubborness.
Does anyone else have a story where lucked saved their life or they had a close brush with death.

I thought of a good example, but I probably can't say it on this board.

I would be dead by now if not for my moms stubborness. I was born with the same defect. Though mine was found out two days after my birth. Which leads onto this story. I was supposed to have eye surgery a few years ago and I was JUST about to go to the operating room when doctors found out that, because of my incosistancy of taking the medication (it was during the summer, and I'm always inconsistant with taking my pills around that time because of my weird hours) using anesthtic (sp?) to put me to sleep would affect my heart and may kill me. So they let me go home.
