I hope I'm doing this right :3
I have all the social medias and messenger except for ICQ and Linkedin. It took some time to get all that set up... I like to branch out so that I can make it easier for people to communicate with me. ^_^ I would say that my favorite out of all those would be Tumblr. I personally haven't ran into many stupid things. It is pretty rare since I don't follow that kind of stuff. The look, content, and customization options are my favorite. I think that Google+ is great for making friends, but it is hard for me to use because of bad past memories with friends I don't have anymore. With that said, it is still a good social media. Twitter is fine but the content is lacking. It is just a bunch of short thinks from people. Random things you say throughout your day. I prefer more in-depth content. Something that goes well on its own. Facebook is a cluttered mess but whatever xP. Instagram is nice but only pictures which would throw me off because I like text based things as well. Anyways, what's your favorite social media and why?
And on the topic of messenger, I like YIM and Skype a lot. I haven't used AIM though. Right now I am giving Skype the edge because of calling, but the web-app for YIM is far better than Skype's desktop app. Although Skype's web-app is actually pretty nice.

I like Instagram. Facebook's had too many bad changes over the last ten years, Google+ just never caught on with anyone I liked, Twitter's got that nasty character limit, and I never did get into Tumblr. I'd probably like it if I did but I only have so much time to keep up with things. I heard you can rig an IG account to update pretty much every other social media account, but haven't been able to get it to go into practice.
I don't really like instant messengers. They're pretty much timesinks.

Twitter is probably my favourite, it's my main way of keeping up with my friends, since Facebook and Tumblr are kind of cesspools, at least in my own experience. But those are the three I use, I don't bother with any others. Messenger is convenient, I like using it as a way to contact people if I need to actually have a conversation.

Ohhhh, man. I don't like any social media unless it's a necessity for something important. Instant messengers are my thing for sure though. I've been riding on the Skype train for a good... wow, let's count... 8 years, I think? Man I feel a little old.
Discord's hip, and will likely be a good source of IMing for me for the foreseeable future. I've hopped on the AIM-train for the sake of MMLS in the past, but now that it's not necessary, I feel so much better about tossing Pidgin into the trash. I used MSN actively before and after Skype came around, but since the merge, I haven't bothered trying to do anything with that account. So overall, I'm happy with my current two forms of IM (provided you don't include Steam messaging) and don't plan or intend on using any extra form of communication outside of forums.
There's probably straggler-IMs that I'm forgetting, but I think I have the big ones down.

I just consume content. So... I don't use them all that often.

But I love the web app. I just wish the desktop app looked like that. Unfortunately, at leas the android app, is just awful. It glitches and seems jumpy. There aren't as many animations as I would like. I have really liked Telegram but it is kind of boring. Now I am on hangouts, waiting for Google Allo to come out. Discord was good until I learned of the inability to delete chat history. But it is fun for the MMLS stuff. I have also used - LINE
- WhatsApp
- Facebook Messenger
- Yahoo Messenger
- AIM
- Dasher
- Cryptocat
- Trillian
- Wire
- Kik
- Kakao Talk
- BBM
- Talkray
- Tango
- ooVoo
- Built in Messengers for IG, Twitter, Tumblr, and whatever else
- And probably other things I'm forgetting
I have been searching for a long time for the perfect messenger

Most of my friends are online because I don't really fit in with people in my area. Because of that, I heavily rely on IM services. FBM is glitchy on android, so I don't use it. Facebook is cluttered and I don't enjoy using it. I don't follow the horrible content that tumblr is known for, so I rarely see any. Twitter just doesn't have the content I like.

There aren't as many animations as I would like. I've been using version 6.21.0.104 of the Skype application for quite awhile, and they're well into version 7 right now. This sometimes causes problems with people who have a later version, but I want my Skype to look how I want it to look. My version's the last version with the UI that I've enjoyed using and so far, it still works. They're really going to wreck me when they start discontinuing old versions again, but I suppose I'll just have to get over it when that time comes. Skype's been tons more reliable with voicechat than Discord has, because when a Discord server starts going down the drain in voice quality, everyone gets affected; not just one person. But as an IM hangout, I can't think of anything better right now. It's actually pretty amazing how much software you've been through looking for the perfect IM application, as you call it. I would just go with what seems to be the norm that people around me use. Where I come from, that's typically Skype. Discord's caught on a little bit with my internet circles, so I've hopped on that with no regrets so far.

Of those five choices, I really enjoy Twitter for the fast-paced conversations if you can avoid the people that get a little aggressive. On FB, it's more private, so that's better served for real life contacts or close internet friends. Skype, Line recently, and Discord even more recently have become good free group chat services.

Like I said, I twitter is more for communication instead of content and I like content. But I will say twitter is very good at what it does. Fb is good for more private things but I dont have enough friends for that ^^'. And I dont like how every time you go on a different device, LINE makes you delete all history. Skype doesn't have a good android app. Discord won't let me delete chat history, so i don't like it for directly messaging friends on there. It is good for group chats and servers and stuff. I still havent found my favorite messenger. Skype web may be my favorite but that's just on computer. the app ruins it for me.

So I am just trying to find the best one. They don't really care, but I am really into the look and feel of the app. If it doesn't work right, I feel uneasy using it. If it looks bad, I feel sick sometimes. (That's what comes with being a highly sensitive person :/)
