What do we ever use it for? Or is it just to show megamans Indiana Jones skillz?

Indian Jones skills of course! Actually I don't know. It doesn't actually explain anything about it at all. It was probably just to show that that's what you do in some of the game.

Don't forget the BttF 2 reference, where Mega Man jumps off the roof of the ruins and onto the Flutter like how Marty jumped on the flying DeLorean! The ruin is really just a tutorial, so there's nothing really special about it (though I do wish that the Blue refractor had a purpose other than sit in your special items menu...) I wonder if there are more film references...

Supposedly the plan was to sell it("Maybe we can finally get some money" [Roll sure gets right down to the point, eh?]). Not really sure why they didn't. If they'd sold it, maybe they would've gotten some money to go and find their Flutter parts right away.

Apparently they forgot about it or something. I can just imagine it sitting in a storage closet gathering dust.... Even if they did get the parts, they'd still have to find that red refractor. But if it was that simple, odds are we'd never had to deal with the Bonnes..

It's a trophy. :) Maybe Roll puts it in the Support Car and forgets to tell you? Or maybe she goes off and sells it and keeps all the money to herself. :) “Told ya!”

A trophy indeed. It shows you how much of a manly man you are! I mean, only a masculine man like Megaman(and Indian Jones) can pull off that slide and not go "Ow!".
(Green, are you quoting my artwork? Are you? Hmmmmmmmmmm?)

The idea did come to me because I thought of your picture, yeah. But I've been dying to bust out that Tron emoticon for ages now. EDIT: Waaaaitaminute, you were quoting that one mini-comic thing, though! I think the idea of those movie references was Capcom's way of playing around with 3D, you know to get a feel for things. It's a shame there weren't that many more(if any) in the games(there are somethings that kinda seem like they have to be..). It was pretty nifty.

Nuh-uh! I was just using the idea of Tron being right. Tron doesn't go "Told Ya!"...well, I don't think she does.

“Told ya” is a fairly common expression .. but you're right it's not in there(just Tron's voice in the back of Rock's head repeating what she said before).
I seem to remember someone here knowing quite a bit about a lot of movies.. I think it was ZFGoku. He might be able to point out some other references.

It's obvious the refractor was there because it became physically attached to Megaman's pockets, thereby eliminating any use it may have carried, resulting in a completely unused item.
Obviously.

Maybe Roll puts it in the Support Car and forgets to tell you? Or maybe she goes off and sells it and keeps all the money to herself. :) “Told ya!” problem solved tower's blue Refractor - power for support car Kattelox's Southern refractor is used for the boat energy supply,(yellow one i believe) and the red one is jammed into the Flutter - three transports, three refractors - not to sound shrude, but it's just common sense - i mean i figured it out from the day i found the red one, Roll uses them for transportable needs, the blue is support car, how else could she give that rust-bucket the ability to move? and the Yellow i believe was it's color is the boat - we even see roll get into her grease monkey mode there, then the red one i know fore sure gets used on the flutter - so red-flutter, yellow-boat - yet we never see blue - thats cause roll repaired the rust-car with it while the junk shop owner got stuck inside the sub-gate and Trigger took off after him so in short here's your answer BusterBroke - the blue refractor, like the other two are used as you acquire them for the next-found method of transport
