Hey MMLS! I've been absent for a while due to a hellishly busy semester. In fact, I've had to re-define my definition of busy . While stress and sleep deprevation have probably knocked several years off my life, I've accomplished a lot, and am proud to announce that my card game The Cambrian is going to be published!
The Cambrian is a game of fright and frantic exploration. In order to defeat a beast in a subterranean wasteland, you must dig up surface-world artefacts and hack them into weaponry and armor. Two players collaborate side by side to draw tiles that represent excavated items like sledgehammer, or football helmet, and arrange them according to a set of rules, color-coded sides, and in/out arrows.
That's Level 1. Level 2 and 3 are in the works, and are themed Mecha, and Posthuman respectively.
I'll admit, MegaMan Legends has a primary influence in the game's design: Collect items underground to build weapons and armor, work in a spotter-digger type relationship. Use of cyberpunk and posthumanism tropes.
I'm leading a team of four USC student developers. The game will be published in December, and we needs artists and playtesters. I'd love to get you, my fellow MegaMan Legends fanboys and fangirls, involved.
If you want to contribute artistic talent:
Post links to your work here, and after about a week I'll decide on a few artists to commission work to.
We primarily need original symbols for Defense, Long Range, Short Range, etc., Cambrian (boss) designs, box art, etc.
If you want to playtest:
Playtesting is the process of observing gameplay experiences throughout the development process to help determine how to make the game as balanced and fun as possible. If enough folks express interest, I'll upload asset PDFs and instructions on how to assemble them and play the game. It would be great to get videos of the game being played for the first time.
