Ok, so, since I got a question about my avatar I guess I'll use it as an excuse to start the art thread I've been debating... These are all models I made to mimick the PSX style, though they slightly break the polygon limit... but the important thing is that they look retro. Trigger. Roll Tron, in her MoTB Labcoat Yuna Sera Denise Art (backpack and pistol are separate models) A system character from the concept sketches, I call her Cybele. A small Reaverbot I created specifically to be a non-boss type enemy. I call it Billet All of the original characters have been modified slightly from their original outfits, this was intentional. So... That's where my avatar came from.

Sweet, you don't see too much of Denise in the art section! Was that pose a shout-out to Phoenix Wright?

Sweet, you don't see too much of Denise in the art section! Was that pose a shout-out to Phoenix Wright? Mildly. I mean she is pointing and shouting. There are pirates involved, and there's a moderately long story behind this pic, which I may explain later... but its sort of pretentious fanon I have so... in any case... Have a Yuna, Aaaaand a Tron... Tron: "My clothing is none of your concern!" Tron: "...also how do you like my Zange Bohrer?"

*Facepalms*You just had to incorporate the crotch plate, didn't you? I'm going to assume that Barrett would be the one to point it out. Volnutt is too much of an awkward teenager to mention something like that.

I didn't know you were the one working on these models... good job! I saw some of these ages ago and was surprised how amazing and official they look. I really dig both Volnutt's and Roll's model. Thanks! Yeah I worked pretty hard on all of these. I actually stopped a number of times to look at the shading styles that were used in the original textures and concept art when I was drawing the textures for these guys. (Also, almost all of these textures only use 16 colors per palette, as per the original games. I think I broke one or two by about 3 colors though) Also a lot of the designs were reworked on the characters, to make them seem 'the same but different' in the way that MML1 and 2 were 'the same but different.' (Like the Flutter's interior layout for example, or Roll's boots and gloves, or Trigger's body! Even old man Barrell's design was changed from a coot to a gentleman.) I also tried to keep the polycount as low as I could, so they would look like something from the PSX era... that is, I kept it low but they're probably a bit high for PSX...I wanted retro, not ugly, like the scent of fresh lemon, you see.

Gentlemen... I give you a look into the future... Walking Dead style. Let me state that I did not make this model, I merely applied some modifications to it in order to see what Clementine would look like a few years later. That said, it was still pretty difficult on a few levels... one of which being that I've never tried to make a character look older in this manner... I think it looks pretty good. I was going for something about 14-16, and I'd say she doesn't look older than 17 at most, so... I guess I hit the mark there. What do you guys think?

I was playing around with glass rendering... you... can't really see it, but there's a lot of distortion stuff going on here. (purposeful) The sphere of the eye is about as big around as the edge of the bevel, but the iris inside is actually only as big as the inside of the pupil. So there's a lot of magnification happening. Cooler still, I can turn the eye, and it still seems to follow you. See how small that iris is?
