The man responsible for my childhood hobby of rating my sister's diary entries on a scale of 1-5 stars died today from cancer. He was responsible for countless insults of epic proportions including, but far from limited to, "I'd rather eat a golf ball than see this movie again" and "To call A Lot Like Love dead in the water is an insult to water," as well as numerous reviews for movies that he didn't think were utterly reprehensible in every possible way. His last review was of "The Host," which got a disappointingly mediocre 2 1/2 stars. May he rest in peace.

I didn't always agree with his rating but I always had a blast reading his reviews.

Oh crap, Ebert died?! Man, I used to love watching old reruns of At the Movies. Jeez, that really sucks. At least his and Siskel's legacy in the movie industry will live on forever. May he rest in peace.
