A year has passed since Capcom cancelled this game. Since then, the MegaMan community has started to do many amazing things, both good and bad in my eyes. Now that a year has passed, I'll ask you this question: Where do you think the franchise and community is headed?

I think we'll continue to grow and gain more supporters through more events and videos. I just hope that some day, we will be able to convince Capcom to revive Legends 3.

The franchise always had a cult following. Even though these boards have become passive of late (due to disappointment of the MML3 cancellation), the love for the series is still in us . The community will stick around for quite some time, as for the franchise, it is very unclear. It's not the 1st time Capcom to ruin our day. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm much more pessimistically oriented, rather than optimistically oriented on this particular topic :/

The Community - Hard to say. There hasn't been a new Legends* game in what, twelve years? I could easily imagine that some people have gotten disillusioned about the whole thing by now. Besides, it's hard to monitor the legitimate number of fans/supporters inside of the community. If it isn't growing, then it's definitely stuck in limbo.
The Franchise - I'll be honest here. If I wasn't a Legends fan, I'd be absolutely sick of Mega Man by now. It has spawned so many different variations, each one usually lasting for around six games, excluding spin-offs and whatnot. Capcom has probably decided that, as a well-selling franchise, Mega Man just doesn't cut it anymore.
*Five Islands and AdvTour do NOT count.

The Mega Man franchise as a whole is not really in good shape right now. Mega Man is now nothing more than a opportunity for Capcom to sell merchandise and licensing to other companies. Even if Capcom does make a new Mega Man game, regardless of the series, it just cannot compete with more mainstream video games like Mario, Zelda, Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, etc. As much as I hate to admit it, the future for the Mega Man Legends series seems bleak right now until someone in Capcom is willing to put the Legends series back into the gaming mainstream.
As for the community, there are many great Mega Man fans out there. Some may take it too far, but overall, the community is still fine and welcoming as a whole.

That's "SketchMan3". Capital S, capital M and the number 3. It's official (nicknames are ok, though)

I think the Franchise is sunk. If Capcom makes the changes to Megaman that will make it better and able to stand on the same ground as modern games, the core fans won't like it. If they decide to appeal to the core fans with more retro junk, the rest of the world will ignore it. That goes for every iteration of Megaman, except maybe X. It's telling that there are so many "successful" games out there that follow the Megaman gameplay formula, but have "good" (and I hate to say that because I love retro) graphics. I mean, everything in MMPU looked like it was made of rubber and plastic.
The community... It'll keep on the way it's been keepin' on.

The franchise is in a limbo state right now. It can easily be revived with a little help from a company like Inti Creates doing a Mega Man 11 or whatnot to get the good times rolling again. X is most likely done after a failed retcon, Zero, Battle Network, and Star Force finished, ZX sold worse than Legends, and Legends is back to being just that instead of a reality. Obviously, it would be great if Capcom uncanceled the game, but that's probably not going to happen for the time being.
I do think that if there was any time for Capcom to give some good news for the Blue Bomber, it would coming up in December in the month of his 25th Anniversary. There's no point in rushing any new potential games out the door now unless you want to see a Sonic 2006 game made for Mega Man. I want quality, although I do admit it's odd going more than two years without any titles in the franchise. It's the longest drought for the series ever, and I don't see a new take on it being the way to go like with what Castlevania's doing.
The comic's going well, the community's a bit smaller around my own YT page which is mostly Mega Man dedicated, but that's more because I'm not uploading as much anymore. Anyway, there are still plenty of people that care about the series. It's just that Capcom wants blockbusters without realizing that there are those that just want lesser titles to go along with it. I want to see what their EX Troopers game does because that could be a big factor as to if the company even bothers with anything other than "big hit" titles.

I personally believe that the fandom will continue to stay strong as we had lasted so long before Legends 3 was announced, right?
As for the franchise, let's wait and see.
