This thread wasn't really supposed to be only about Frostbyte, btw, but a general thread for discussing of chiptune related stuff.
Anyway, I really like chiptune, and I'd like to share some of my favorite artists that I've gotten into recently.
8bit Betty is always fun.
Feryl - His "Her Smile" track makes me want to do something manly for some reason. NES style stuff, but done in OpenMPT, I believe.
Wizwars - Gameboy Rock is a must have. Dancey duel-Gameboy grooves with emphasis on melody. He does Chipthrash.
PROTODOME - His Blue* series is sooo lush and funky and jazzy. Not 8bit at all, he blends the chiptune aesthetic with live instrumentation and synth-work and does not adhere to the typical "8bit 4-monophonic-channels" type limitations. He also plays in a funk band. I think he plays woodwind.
Fearofdark - Another jazzy funky dude, a newcomer on the scene with a very evocative debut album with lush sounds and sweet melodies and harmonies, he works in the .xm format with ModPlug Tracker. Rock this in the car on an evening drive with the top-down. Reminds me a little of Pat Methany (minus the Middle Eastern influence and heavier on the funk side) and his ilk.
Danimal Cannon - You should Google him. You just should. Rockin' guitar + Gameboys = WIN. And not "Anamanaguchi Power chords" type win, either. This guy can really play. Progressive, classic video game-esque tunes, funky jam sessions, he's got it all.
Unicorn Dream Attack - vocoder vocals. Good stuff.
And to bring it back around to video game music from which this all started:
Troupe Gammage - of Mutant Mudds fame, and did an NES cover of his band's song "Carrie". Good stuffs.
McAlby - A classic 8bit era king. He doesn't do music anymore, sadly, but he offers up all his old OSTs to the games that the dev team he worked with made, and especially those of some unreleased games.

The Jacob K. Javits Center
655 West 34th Street, New York, NY
(34th St at 11th Ave)
Subway: A, C, E train to 34th St - Penn Station
I like it alot, and I thought I'd share it with you all. I've been getting into the dubstep stuff a bit (chiptune dubstep is much more appealing to me than the "mainstream" variety), and this guy Frostbyte is pretty good at it.
Newcomer Frostbyte has made quite the wave in the chiptune scene with his latest EP "2012", and now he's heading up a webshow hosted by NoiseChannel to promote his latest release:
Codex
CM.O Event thread: chipmusic.org/forums/topic/7747/july-25th-frostbyte-codex-webshowrelease/
FREE SINGLE RELEASE HERE: frostbyte1.bandcamp.com/album/like-the-animal-i-am-single
Facebook event here: www.facebook.com/events/318072741619492/
The album itself will be a free download, but 5 bucks will get you lots of bonus content like the LSDJ source files for two songs, sample kits, memoir, gear list, "A album's worth of unreleased, unfinished material that will never see the light again", and more.
I'm kind of excited about it.
Just a reminder that this is going down from 7pm to 10pm EST on www.noichan.org
If you like chiptune, dance music, or dubstep (and I'm not talking about Skrillex, either...), you don't want to miss it. There will be plenty of variety in styles showcased.

Edit: About the "image too big" Okay. I was wondering, because I used the imgur editor to resize it multiple times, but it kept coming out huuge. I thought it was just my cache keeping it big.
Thanks for verifying that for me. Sorry. The chipmusic forum from which that came automatically resizes too big pictures, which is why I tried to resize it in imgur in the first place.
Anyway, the show was AWESOME. And there are more shows going on at www.dmgcontrol.com/live
Hm. I thought putting up an actual link to where the show was taking place would be good enough for a bump, but I guess not.
Anyway, it was a great show.

This album is the culmination of all the time I've spent with the chiptune community, all the friends I've made, all the experiences I've had, all that I've learned, and all the hard work that I've put into my arts and my musical voice.
It's finally almost time to share this with you all. On July 25th, I'll be holding a webshow partnered with NoiseChannel, and you all are invited to come, listen to some music, and have a great time
