No way, the best thing about MML1 was it's old nintendo-esque story line. AKA the STORYLINE SUPREME!
Namely: Single guy walks into town, Single handedly saves the day/Makes the world a better place/Kills everyone and thing that looks at him the wrong way.
See Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time

The best thing about MML1 was the Bonne family! I mean, they were funny in MML2, but MML was really their turn in the spotlight. There were times when I'd burst out laughing at Teisel for almost no apparent reason, and Tron is, IMO, THE greatest girl character in any MM game, EVER, even if her role does seem a bit cliched looking back on the game today. Those guys just made that game for me. And who could forget Bon Bonne? Babu!!!

@ P.U.X:Spam and double posting , just edit your post. The best thing in MML in general is that Zero isn't' a character or stealing the spotlight from Mega man Trigger. I'm going to burn the poster. Of yes, the best thing in MML1 is everything you can't fix perfection

One thing: the soda machines! *kicks one to get a free soda* XD Capcom left out interactive stuff like that in MML2...

Well... I think what makes MML1 so great is pretty much embodied in the Meeting Room scenes of the Gesselshaft. That loving attention it gave to each of its characters, not just the Bonnes particularly, but to everyone, is what makes it so great. It doesn't feel so like all the cutscenes are as plotted and planned out as in MML2. The Bonnes aren't just there to serve as a mid-boss; they're there, and they have a masterfully optimistic plan crafted around a long table while drinking from mugs with their faces on them.
Yeah, just the characters in general. Don't get me wrong, every MML game has a good focus on characters. But that one seemed to show its characters in more light than you ever see in any other Megaman game.

Those evil cars! I can't even count how many times I got hit my those cars. The bus was the worse because without the jumpsprings you can't jump over.

Actually, I managed to get onto the bus without use of the jump springs. You need to first get on the very top of a truck (I prefer the yellow one personally, but whatever.) Then just ride the truck until you wind up directly behind a bus. Wait until the bus stops at the bus stop, and when both the truck and bus are stationary, get on the very edge of the top of the top of the truck and jump. You should be able to make it on top of the bus.
Come to think of it, there weren't many cars in MML2 at all!

There was only one truck in the whole game but the really red guy smashes it in to the gates and the bonnes and it blows up.

The fact that you'll see some servbots around before every big battle with the Bonnes. Near the Drache before the big pirate attack, at the junkstore before the battle at Cardon Forest, at the boatshop before the barcon battle, on top of the buildings in old city before the bruno attack. They're everywhere!
