Anybody seen it or heard of it? I was pleasantly surprised.
For those who don't know, it's a movie about remote controlled robot boxing.
No, really. Imagine a "Rock'em Sock'em Robots" game for the Nintendo Wii, but with the adrenaline rush of the original non-virtual Rock'em Sock'em tabletop game.
I went into the movie with low expectations. I came out of it with my arms raised.
I don't want to spoil it (as if it's possible to spoil such a cliche-ridden movie), but I noticed a few interesting references and possible influences in the movie from various games/manga that most of us are probably at least a little familiar with. (see if you can spot them. I'd post my theories if this board had spoiler tags)
If you like conventional "easy-viewing" sports movies and fighting robots, I recommend this one. It's nothing special, but at the same time, it is something special. Just don't go in expecting anything spectacular, and, as it's a movie about fighting robots, see if you can identify with it on a gamer/classic-anime-lover level.

Isn't this the movie with the Training Bot that is trained to fight with actual fighting moves and that shows an Xbox 720 ad? I'm planning on watching it soon.

Yeah. I didn't even notice an XBox 720 ad, lol. I did see the HP symbol, though.
