Something's bugging me about the Pokté Caverns in MML2. I'm sure we all know of that neat little trick where we can gain boatloads of Zenny by killing the King Miroc in the Caverns when he appears, so that doesn't need to be said. My curiosity concerns about how to get him to spawn.
Now, I'm not sure about this, myself, but there's probably a trick to ensuring a Mimic to be at the entrance to the Caverns, and thus ensuring the King Miroc to crop up in his room. I'm betting that it's not random, but instead programmed to only occur when you enter at a certain time on the clock in your Status screen; from my experience, the clock may have to have a :09 on the seconds portion.
Anyone else thinking about it? I'm pretty sure we could find the answer out together...

Pretty sure it's fully randomized. There are only three configurations, so it's not unusual to spot patterns in what's really just chance.
That said, some games used random number generators that can be manipulated by circumstance, but it's usually only worth it for finding those 1/256 encounters in RPGs. Even if that sort of thing were possible in MML2, it's a 33% chance you're trying to manipulate. It's more trouble than it's worth.

When you see that mimic, you can safely say that there is gonna be a King Miroc, its always the same set of enemies at every room. I found out about this when I was farming Mirocs on the Guild Ruins.

Ja, I also believe that getting the King Miroc to spawn is fully randomized too from experience.

Funny thing, the removed him from the Japanese psp port. On top of that they removed the girly magazine cover I was dying to see

When I first saw the King Miroc in Pokte caverns, it creped me out cause it's just sitting there in the middle of the dark room. At first I tried to stay away from it, thinking that it will attack and all of that stuff. Then I attacked it. When it moved away, I ran to the door thinking that it's after me. It took me a while to realize that the reaverbot can't even attack and can drop some good amount of Zenny.

King Miroc can attack you. Sometimes after you throw it, it'll start running around the room, and if you get close it'll do that "chest bump" tackle that the Mirocs in MML1 used. It hurts a LOT, but I guess that's to be expected given its size.

Unlike the regular Mirocs, we are thankful that the King Miroc can't escape when cornered. That'd be 10,000 Zenny missed for that attempt.

Yeah, when you let them get away from you, they'll just get lost and confused, run into walls, and stop to let you kill it for 10,000 zenny.
