Okay, so I brought this idea up in tonight's iScribble session, and Dashe thought I should post it on the forum to make it more permanently available, so here goes. I know that some members here (myself included) are planning to attend conventions to help raise awareness about the Legends 3 revival movement. (The Worldwide Comic Con Blitz thread has more information, for anyone interested.) I know our members, and members of the 100,000 Strong movement in general, have done some pretty cool stuff at conventions already, including cosplay and more. Well, I was thinking, besides gathering more members for the movement, what if pictures of these efforts could also be sent directly to Capcom? Seeing the people behind the movement and the creativity the series inspires might help sway the Capcom executives. It's certainly shown me just how much enthusiasm this fanbase really has! It doesn't have to be just pictures, either; I know some fans have even made videos of things like NYCC, so the more types of media, the better! I'm not sure if this could be considered a project on its own, or if it would be more effective to combine it with something like a letter-writing campaign. I would really appreciate it if you guys would share some thoughts on this. For instance, what kinds of pictures do you think would be best to share? Should lots of pictures be collected and then sent in a bunch, or should we all just send them individually whenever our cons are over? Also, importantly, if we send any pictures or media to Capcom of Japan, does anyone know enough Japanese to give a good explanation of why we're sending them? Any input is much appreciated. Thanks! It's a great idea. If we do send pictures to CoJ it should be of all the the participants of the event, the artwork, cosplayers, of the MML3 booth, and if they marched up to a Capcom booth there should be a picture of that. For videos we could just gather up the best footage and send them a cheap DVD. We should also probably include a letter in Japanese that shows our desire and support for the game. I'll check the LND topic and find CoJ's address. This should probably go along with a letter writing mission, but we'll make a topic for that specifically.
EDIT: I think this is Capcom's address, but I'm not super sure. 3-1-3 Uchihirano-machi, Chuo-ku, Osaka 540-0037, Japan

Again- both BRILLIANT ideas! I'd obviously be willing to get some special cosplay photos done to send to them! I'd really love to finish my Reporter Tron and get photos of that and send some in! I'll also draw some art.

Great idea, FlutterBy! Showing CoJ some actual, enthusiastic faces supporting the movement HAS to stir something inside it's cold, black heart.

Thanks for replying, guys! I'm glad to have some feedback, as I wasn't entirely sure how people would respond to this idea. I totally agree, Loken; the more aspects of the campaign we can capture in the media we send, the better. Even if members didn't operate a booth, every little bit counts! Regarding the letters you mentioned, I also think this is a good idea. The one major obstacle I can see here is the need for translation of some sort, as I'm sure many people in the fandom aren't fluent in Japanese. Automatic translation programs might be appropriate for captioning pictures, but I suppose we'll have to examine our options for full letters. I'd obviously be willing to get some special cosplay photos done to send to them! I'd really love to finish my Reporter Tron and get photos of that and send some in! I'll also draw some art. That would be great, Jes! Having seen the effort you clearly put into your cosplay and art, I can tell you right now that both would be excellent contributions. Thanks for the support! If you use that terrible one of me from NYCC please for the love of god photoshop my hair so it doesn't look like a frizzy mess. :17: To be honest, Dashe, I remember you saying something about your hair being frizzy (in one of the videos, maybe?), but I could never see anything bad about it, myself. My hair looks far worse than that on a regular basis, no joke.

Well, Flutterby, as far as gaming forum admins go I'm not exactly orthodox. :22: In that I'm not really a gamer. Or much of a regular sort of nerd, with regular sort of nerd haircuts. Don't tell anybody.
I wish the footage of the interview with Brett was more widespread. That's a bit more of an accurate portrayal of my hair than the meetup with Seth, which occurred after several full con days and less time to actually attend to it. If I ever do another public thing my hair will be flawless. I don't want to show up on the Internet with a frizzy mess again.

Ah, don't get me wrong, Dashe; I can totally understand feeling self-conscious about one's appearance. Anyone who knows me in real life could tell you that I'm my own biggest critic in that regard, so perhaps it's a bit hypocritical of me to try to reassure you. You should, of course, have every right to choose which pictures/videos of you are used in any fan project.
That actually brings up a good point for this effort in general: if a person is featured in a photo or video, we should probably make sure to obtain that person's permission before using the media. I know this might complicate things a bit, but the last thing we want to do is infringe on people's privacy.

The last thing we need is someone getting upset over using their art/photo without permission. If anything. We should really do it only on a submission style acceptance. Like whenever someone sends a cosplay pic or piece of art that it's theirs. That will avoid all shadows of doubts.

Gosh, for some reason, I thought I had replied to this. Sorry for the delay! This is very true. The last thing we need is someone getting upset over using their art/photo without permission. If anything. We should really do it only on a submission style acceptance. Like whenever someone sends a cosplay pic or piece of art that it's theirs. That will avoid all shadows of doubts. That's a good idea, Jes; it would certainly lessen the possibility of anyone taking issue with what's being used. I really respect what artists and cosplayers do, and reflecting that in the submission process seems quite reasonable. Speaking of the submission process, would it be best to have people post their media here? It seems logical to me to have everything in one place, but I've never really attempted this sort of thing before, so I'm not sure if that's our best option. If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them! (This reminds me, I really have to bring my camera to the convention this weekend. It would be rather ridiculous if I didn't take my own advice and help out here!)

Well if we can get people to submit anything we could also make sure to post it here even if we are a part of the 100k facebook page. I think in the end it should end up here somehow. Instead of having multiple areas to look through. Makes it much less of a hassle. Forgive me if my typing seems a little wonky tonight. I'm back from work and it wasn't a very good day @-@;

Yeah, post it all here! Facebook's just really dynamic by nature...it'd be better for archival purposes to have it all organized in a spot like this that isn't going to become irretrievably buried in a matter of days.
