First of all: Barret and Barrel both have faceplates on their face.
Second: Barret's and Barrel's names are almost identical. The only difference is the last letter in both of their names.
In another note, in Prototype Barrel was supposed to disappear. Roll said he had not seen him for a while.
This is all based in official and/or logical info.
What do you guys think?

I dunno, I'm not buying this theory.

Can't say I agree with it- if that was so, Barrel's interactions the the younger Barrett would have created a time paradox that would have destroyed that current timeline as we know it....... I've been hanging arounc Doc Brown a little too much... :24:

Clearly a glitch in the "Decoy Mass Distribution Algorithm", which somehow made a second duplicate incarnate of an existing person.

Maybe it isn't a matter of time travel so much as it is a matter of the Klicke Lafonica actually reverse-aging a person. If he were actually the old Barrell turned young, Barrett would be old on the inside, but young on the outside, instead of being a time traveler.
Plus, none of us are sure if the metal plate was the result of a digging accident like the expedition to Forbidden Island--if that were the case, then you'd think a direct plug of Past-Barrell into the present wouldn't have the plate.
They did openly state somewhere that he had a prior connection to Roll and the Bonnes, too.

They did openly state somewhere that he had a prior connection to Roll and the Bonnes, too. The problem with that theory is that the time difference between Legends 2 and Prototype isn't that big. Also, Barret did not keep Barrel's memories. Most importantly, Barret was fighting reaverbots while the MegaMan was fighting Sera in Elysium. After that, we cans till see Barel in the ending. Thus, it couldn't have been reverse-aging. EDIT: I thought of a good theory. Barel found this Klicke LaFonica which, instead of making him young, created a clone of him. However, this clone appeared in baby form (Like Trigger when he was reset). However, due to the Digger Cyborg System, the faceplate might have been in Barrel's DNA. Thus, Barret also has a faceplate. However, Barrel might have never noticed the creation of Barret. That would also explain why Barret doesn't seem to have any parents and his mysteriousness. (In contrast: Aero does have a father.)

How do we know Barrett doesn't have any of Barrell's memories for sure?

How do we know Barrett doesn't have any of Barrell's memories for sure? Because he apparently doesn't remember Roll and Tron. Besides, he acts to cool to have Barrel's memory. I'm more into this clone idea that was reset like Trigger. Maybe he has a Data equivalent and that is the Bright Bats mascot!

Seriously. Do you have a source saying he doesn't remember Roll or Tron? Capcom could have never stated openly whether Barrett had Barrell's memories or not, because if they had, then it would ruin the twist if that were the case!
Here is what they DID say about him, which actually does make him sound like a digging veteran stuck in a kids' body. (Or a system unit stuck in a kid's body) "Barrett is the impromptu leader and educator of Klickelan Island's weakest gang, the Bright Bats! But he's training them hard so that they can rise to the top. He likes the words duty and obligation. With a passion for adventure, he spends his days thrillseeking and getting into trouble.
Strangely old-fashioned at times, he's also mysteriously well-versed in the art of digging--much about Barrett is an enigma. He also seems to have some connection to Roll and the Bonnes."
The impromptu leader part seems to infer that he stumbled upon the Bright Bats long after their formation, noticed they sucked, and wanted to help them get better, as opposed to having a set role and part within the group from its inception. The part about being old fashioned and well-versed at digging speaks for itself...and if he remembers digging and retained his older mannerisms, what's to say he doesn't remember his own granddaughter? What if his conversations with Roll and Aero were outright bluffs?
I wouldn't call this cool-acting at all. We've never even actually seen him in action to infer what sort of personality he has, either.

If Barret had kept Barrel's memories, then it would have been a wasted plot-twist. Developers knows that these things should be used as plot-twist at a later point and not at the start. And considering we start the game using Barret...
Also, he might be a clone of Barel. As of that, his strangely old-fashioned sense, mysterious well-versing in the act of digging and being an impromptu leader and educator could can from simply instinct and personality. He might not remember Barrel's memory, but he still acts like him and kept his traits due to being his clone. (Except he is younger.)
MegaMan was also reset, but he was still able to defeat "Pro" Air Pirates and dig in ruins nobody could before as a "teenage" boy. That's because he was a First Class Purge Office Purifying Unit, even if he didn't remember his past at the time. He was awesome at fighting and ruin-digging, yet he didn't remember his fighting techniques from his past.
EDIT: Not only that. It also says that "much of Barett is an enigma". He needs to be special in some way.

Just because he remembers his past doesn't mean he has to share that information with the person controlling him, you know. As the player, you don't necessarily have to be privy to all of the protagonist's inner secrets.

As the player, you don't necessarily have to be privy to all of the protagonist's inner secrets. That's true. However, if that was the case... There wouldn't be the Classic Scene with the Main Character (Barret in Prototype) being all mouth open-wide of surprise once he finds the truth. The devs should know how to implement Classic Storyline Scenes with new information. Also, it would make the "Aero likes Barret" plot very, very wrong. (This game is supposed to be an E-Rated Game or at least an E10-Rated Game.)

It would be the other way around, of course. The PLAYER would be the one being all open-mouth wide with surprise once he or she finds out, along with every other character in the vicinity. It'd be a nice twist, I think.
And as far as I know, the Aero-likes Barrett thing could very well be one-sided. It'd be comparable to having a crush on your teacher, which is alright as long as it's one-sided, and the one with the crush is the student, and that person never acts on it.

It'd be comparable to having a crush on your teacher, which is alright as long as it's one-sided, and the one with the crush is the student, and that person never acts on it. The player could be "mouth open-wide" instead, but that would destroy the fan service of it being an imitation of a classic scene. Of course, you could have other characters be the ones that are surprised and open-mouthed. However, it wouldn't be the same experience. (But still totally possible.) We all know that the "Aero-likes Barret" plot was going to be one-sided, but having Barret keep his old memories would still ruin the chances of players thinking that Aero could have a shot at Barret. Besides, Barret still kept the teacher trait which Aero likes. Also, Barret should be able to notice that Aero likes him because of his experience in life. It would be way more Legends-Style if he appeared naive to this, in a similar (Yet not exact.) style to Trigger. I doubt that we can continue this argument from this point. I think we've reached a point where most of the actual canon info has been used and now we are just arguing about possibilities that could (But might have not.) followed the original planned storyline. Unless you have another card up your sleeve?
